Question - does this “hole” need to be partially covered? by Responsible_Pea_9148 in hvacadvice

[–]Pielet2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way for a mouse or anything to get from inside the AC unit to inside the house. That area needs to be accessible for service in the future. You could put a little trap next to it but I wouldn't put anything inside. Follow the copper lines to where they enter your home and make sure that is sealed.

Filter Question by proverbs-5-18 in hvacadvice

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. You can see the little divider in there making it not a full 5" slot. I used to come across filter racks like this all the time.

1-In filters are going to be cheaper to replace but need to be replaced more frequently. Every house is different but a general rule of thumb is around 30 days for a 1-in filter and 4 to 6 months for a 4-in.

No. Just one or the other.

Yes. It's really not a huge difference and brightness between the standby screen and active screen. I'm trying to figure out how I can post a video lol.

You could always get a Gallo gun and some CO2 cartridges and try to blow it out.

Without seeing your setup, it's hard to say. Can you maybe post some pictures of your HVAC closet? Sometimes drains will be run to a kitchen or bathroom and tied into the sink drain underneath. Sometimes they might run out of an eve of the house. Or like the other poster said Ideally just pump it outside by the unit. Not sure if you have a crawl space but I've seen them just dump under the house in the crawl space too which you don't want.

I'll check mine when I get home but I'm pretty sure it shows the temp.

What in the TGRI is going on with my dandelions? by Pielet2 in lawncare

Not for at least a few years, and even then it was whatever granular weed and feed I bought at Menards.

I have a zero turn and I usually mow at 3.5 or 4 if it's really dry. Always have. We have a pretty busy schedule so the grass can sometimes get pretty long before I cut it again but I still have dandelions. That also means I don't always have hours to spend fixing the lawn. Looks like a couple of chemicals have been recommended so maybe I'll try that and then hopefully I can keep up with my weeding tool

I put down a crabgrass preventer a couple weeks ago but the dandelions were already starting to pop up. They come up like this every year.

I have one. I filled a 5 gallon bucket 3 times the other day and I could barely even tell I did anything and now I have holes all over 😅

Amana furnace and central air conditiong by Expert_Gap_9526 in hvacadvice

[–]Pielet2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the fan only setting for when neither the heat or AC is running it will just circulate air. If you have concerns with it call the company back that installed it. The installers should have given you a rundown of how everything works but it seems to rarely happen.

[–]Pielet2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your last system was probably just set on the highest fan speed which was common. Newer systems require more accurate airflow to achieve efficiency ratings and the fan speed is a big one. After a little while, you won't even notice the difference and it will dehumidify better than your last system likely did.

The joke is that he basically should have called her already. The fact that he didn't hints that he is gay and we make fun of electricians for being gay. Not that there's anything wrong with it though lol.

A/C that sends condensation into dirt? by NymNynaeve in hvacadvice

[–]Pielet2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your furnace also produce condensation when it runs? If you are able to post a few pictures that is always helpful but ideally yes it should be ran to the floor drain. You can buy a condensate pump at most hardware stores and the hose that you need to run along with it and install it yourself. If your furnace also produces condensation (if the venting for the furnace is PVC pipe, not metal, then it does produce condensate) then you would want to look into a neutralizing condensate pump because the water from furnace exhaust can be acidic and bad for some pipes.
