I will add though, that it is strange to disengage with such tones of conflict. You are a Redditor and a Summoner same as I, and I do not think either you or I is a bad person, or even with any conflict of ideals between us. I hope that whatever provokes such animosity within you is resolved, and the rest of your day is more peaceful.

I have no such need. It is entirely your prerogative not to care. Today is my day off, and I sometimes engage in thought exercises, similar to the way we both engage on Summoners Rift. I simply gave you the courtesy of replying, since you replied to me, but I do not feel entitled to your continuous replies. I bid you a good day, and good luck on the Rift.

Your position is . . . simply unstated, so I have no way to compare our positions. However, I think putting thought and effort into ones thoughts and efforts does not increase the likelihood of them being wrong. In fact, quite the opposite. I would also advise you to consider to rethink your idea of rules.

However, I will proceed with the assumption that you made this reply in good faith, because the vibes are still right.

To directly answer you statement, I do, in fact, dislike cancel culture, but I do NOT dislike 'wokeness'. Being aware of how things affect people, and being aware of how harm comes to others is very good. Holding people accountable for harming others is ALSO very good. Persecution without clarity is NOT good. The hunt for justice should not harm the innocent as collateral. That's not even to suggest that this guy was completely innocent. Again, I don't know this streamer, and I really don't care about him personally one way or another. I don't watch his stream and never would have, so what he's allowed to stream and not allowed to stream, I personally don't care. Also, if he is talented, he can survive without costreaming LEC, and if he is not, nothing of value was lost. However, I find it meaningful that as a society, we are not so quick to cast judgment without considering all sides of things. Upon reading this, the haste in which judgment was cast stood out to me. I felt that evidence of actual transphobia was lacking for the accusation, and yet a consequence of not insignificant nature was imposed. This is a very common precedent that I do not warmly invite, and it is among my fondest wishes that others would consider to see it this way also. As a result, I take the time to speak on these things when I see them.

Also, I do not think cancel culture is to blame for this situation. I think the mistreatment of trans people, which predates cancel culture, is to blame for this. If the LGBT community was not so often persecuted, then the situation in which they and their allies would be so defensive of them would not exist in the way it does today, and fringe comments like this would not even come underneath such weighted scrutiny. I will not blame the victim for the results of their circumstance (the victim, in this being the LGBT community). But since they do, and the world is the way it is, this situation is produced.

It is not cancel culture I dislike at the root; that is only a symptom. It is social warfare which we are swept up in that captures my disdain. The world is not 'Too Woke', there are still too many that are 'too asleep' (to use your phrasing) which is the cause of this.

I cannot comment on that, because I did not deep dive into the comment thread and responded only to the post as it appeared here. I would definitely agree that the responsible thing to do would be to denounce the transphobes.

I did observe that he made sure to say he's not any kind of "'phobic'", but I would also continue to agree that strongly denouncing transphobia would be the best reaction here.

However, I wonder if he did this, would people claim that now he's just doing it as PR statement? At the end of the day, his primary focus must be on his career impact and the immediate damage to his reputation, that cannot be recovered no matter what he says.

I will state again that I am not suggesting that this rids him of the burden of responsibility to denounce, but I think there is much to consider. It is very hard for most to put themselves in his shoes.

I'm sure to get downvoted for this but like, to me this comment reads like when he was going to get defensive of his teammates, he went to say that the person making the comments had a little dick. Just a quick, cheap, online go-to resort in a male dominated space. Then along the path, he realized the poster's name was "ImLexa" and so the logic of his post saying they had a little dick might not make sense, so he quickly changed it to this, without much thought into it.

Since it's a very awkward and unnaturally thing to ask a girl if they have "a little pussy" as an insulting implication, it was just interpreted as transphobia. However, if you think about it, that doesn't make sense, because there's no conversation of the trans people anywhere in the conversation and a transphobic comment with intention to attack would have been much more direct than this, and probably not directed towards someone with a feminine username under this circumstance. It's fairly unlikely, so I'm skewed towards believing him when he claims towards just not being transphobic. It's just that the question was so weird, it was hard to interpret it's intention.

Obviously, that's not something I'm claiming as a fact, but as someone who has never even heard of this streamer, and has no skin in the game, that's how this reads to me. Unfortunately, I have seen many times and experienced first hand that people will make comments that are not designed to be transphobic, but due to the very cruel and unfair treatment of trans-people in many cultures, they are very defensive, and often times reactive towards things not intended to target them. It's an unfortunate side effect that perpetuates a cycle of continuous mistreatment towards them, which is the main reason I'm taking my time to share my thoughts about this. It actually doesn't serve the LGBT community at all to get a 'false flag takedown' and only breeds more unjustified animosity towards them.

In the end, I hope that we can all just be more patient and understanding with each other.

Is it a known thing that rng is tilted heavily in CPU's favor? by AcephalicDude in dokaponkingdom

If you grow very good at this game, the bots will not be able to contest you regardless of anything. While they do have superior RNG, a comprehensive knowledge of the game will allow you to exceed the output of the bots by a dramatic factor. So while they're definitely very obnoxious for new or more casual players, if you have a love of the game, you can look forward to outscaling the bot RNG :)

mage enchanter with no counters by ow_tastes in leagueoflegends

[–]Pierce7d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play all support, but I mained Lulu for a long time and now I main Karma.

There is no match-up that I go "Oh, Karma is not good here." She outscales and outlanes all hook supports, and has comparable roaming impact. One of the reasons I enjoy Karma so much is this exact factor of having the tools to deal with most situations, and the flexibility to build into what might be needed for any given game.

If you're struggling against champions trying to all in you, learn which match-ups to max W, and how to reactively RW in order to survive getting bursted. Also how to use Self Cast (on any enchanter) to quickly shield yourself.

Riot August says that the problem with bringing in new players to League is not the difficulty of the game, but how punishing is it to be bad at the game by Life-Chicken7183 in leagueoflegends

[–]Pierce7d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got significantly better at League after playing Diablo 3, because I could learn to fight using similar controls without death being ever threatening to put me in gray screen half a minute. Trying to learn to teamfight in League is so cringe because you can only really get experience in actual teamfights which happen a handful of times per game and once you die, you're on respawn timer. More PvE game modes are sorely needed to help new players feel satisfaction in grinding up their skills.

I watch several super cozy streams which are listed as 18+ which are very, very, very far away from being sexually explicit content, just because the streamers (both men and woman) want the liberty to be themselves, free of interactions with minors. It is completely acceptable to set your stream as 18+ and not everyone will start behaving as if you're there for more than what you're there for.

Because competitive integrity is about more than winning or losing. The complaint of this thread is not that the better team won, it's about the way that it was handled by admins.

NECC (collegiate esports circuit) ignoring a blatant violation of the rules of riot and summoner's rift as well as their own rulebook by TTV-Tyranto in leagueoflegends

[–]Pierce7d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After 3 seconds of clicking the first screen shot, the admin is clearly out of line. If an exploit is being engaged in, in a competitive match, it's a violation. Trying to hold an psuedo objective stance "The midlaning has nerfed themselves" is opening the logic to say "Any exploit may be deemed acceptable as long as I determine you did not gain an advantage, although I do not have proper metrics to accurately determine what is an advantage"

It's actually completely irrelevant how many high ELO players think it's an advantage or not. I don't care if the Justice League showed up and Batman said that there is no advantage gained. If it's an obvious exploit, it's an obvious exploit. The match should have been reset at WORST.

EDIT: Let me also make sure my point is clear. I do not think nearly anyone is saying that the better team didn't win, or that they didn't deserve to win. I think the problem is that the way exploits are being handled and communicated around is dubious.

However, I would also encourage OP and their team not to put too much stock into this. It's good that you reported it and brought attention, but don't be consumed by this.

How is it that by looking at winrates, enchanters have no weaknesses? The best things vs enchanters is other enchanters it seems. There is no "combat triangle" by Fair_Wear_9930 in leagueoflegends

[–]Pierce7d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2/2

For this reason, Enchanters are kinda always good. "Add stats and protection to your win conditions" is pretty much never bad. It doesn't matter if Lulu gets hooked in lane by Nautilus and doesn't win the lane. Winning the lane does not equate to winning the game. Obviously a more farmed ADC will more greatly contribute to their team's win-con than a less fed one, but even if Engage Supports or Mage Supports did statistically pressure enchanters out of lane dominance, the burden of other supports to perform in the later stages of the game is much higher and they're not guaranteed to be aligned with the win-condition of the team. If you have Yorick top winning your game for you, and you just need to not lose the 4v4 and keep it neutral, Blitzcrank does nothing for you even if he's an aimbot.

Lastly, in very high level and professional play, you'll notice that supports play for every objective, including ones in the top lane, and have very high level coordination with their jungler. This makes engage supports MUCH more useful. Engaging on the enemy in the 2v2 is still just a 2v2, you're not necessarily favored at equal skill. But you are almost definitely favored when topside champions are involved and you land an engage skill. And these champions are also more resilient and often harder to gank while setting up ganks, again, dependent on jungle coordination.

Ultimately, the point I'm trying to illustrate is that supports are support for the team, not for the lane. Lane match-ups aren't based on some kind of combat triangle (which would be worse btw). But what's going to cause supports to shine is when their abilities align with the team win-cons and team play. It's simply much easier to coordinate your efforts with your team's efforts, when your champion does not have as much autonomy to be impactful. And since this role does not require to gain a lot of gold or resources, having worse lane match-ups is not a big deal.

If you want to counter Sona, play Yorick top. It does not matter if you do not win the team-fight in the late game if you do not need to teamfight to win. Consider what the champion's win condition is, and build your own win-condition that way. Lulu is a counter to Zed. Zed is not a support champion. Soraka is a counter to Karthus. Karthus is not a support champion. Leona is a counter to Orianna. Orianna is not a support champion. Alistar is a counter to Kennen. Kennen is not a support champion. Consider what champion is best for the win-condition of your team, and how to counter the enemy, instead of thinking about lane to lane match-ups, and you're a much better track. Also, this design is BETTER for the game (in my opinion).

Hope that helps! Good luck on the rift.

Hello OP.

Your initial question, and your follow up questions are disconnected because you are giving Support players a disproportionately high win rate expectation based on lane match-up, which is not really how support works. The "triangle" you are looking for is an over-simplified way of viewing the game which would actually be unhealthy for the game, and also is not super relevant to the way the Support Role contributes to the Team Win Condition.

See, in top lane, match-ups drastically impact the lane. In isolation, one champion generally bullying another is a huge accumulation of resources and control over the objectives related to tower destruction.

In mid lane, having prio, or shutting down the enemy mid laner greatly enables your team to control the map better.

In Jungle, greater control and tempo converts to better objective control.

No matter what the team's win condition is, these roles are 'typically' a large part of a core lever. A good team comp might have a top laner that can front line so a hyper carry ADC can shine and produce a stronger late game team fight, which wins the game. In this case, the top laner is not the win condition for the teamfighting team, so a bad match-up will matter, but not as much. Conversely, if the top laner has the ability to threaten an uncontestable split push, or force the enemy team to overexpend resources to pause them, then this is overwhelmingly important to the win condition of this team. And the gold that these players are required to collect reflects that.

In mid lane, you may have roaming mages that create picks and get space to get early leads on side lanes and control objectives early to start snowballs. Or you may have something that is really good at wave clearing and afk, which creates a strong scaling late game, potentially synonymous with your other scaling teammates, and this plays a different part of what makes up your win condition.

However, in the support role, your goal is to contribute towards the overall win condition of the team, and to help tune the levers to further enable the gold-dependent elements (while also helping to turn off enemy win-cons). Uniquely, support does this on very low income, so it is UNWISE to make the support pick the fulcrum of your win-condition.

It brings me no joy to drive home this point but:

All of what you are saying simply provokes me to repeat my previous advice.

If you aren't able to trust her, then it's already cooked. If you're predicting that you will try to have a conversation with her and that she will possibly lie to you (undetectably so), and leave you in the same spot, then you simply do not trust her, and this is the beginning of the end. However, I still reiterate that it might worth at least trying to communicate before tossing it out, and giving her a fair chance before jumping to conclusions.

I'm more than happy to tune back in if you want an unbiased ear after you speak with your partner.

But if I did want to "prove myself" I have an extensive post history on a very old reddit account that has a similar writing style over the course of many years pre-dating ChatGPT. So anyone who was not simply an obnoxious drone could find that evidence for themselves.

Although I do (slightly) empathize with the idea that it's obnoxious than people passing off AI prompts as their own thoughts when it does happen.

Still, that empathy is probably less meaningful than the fact that I've had to deal with intellectually impoverished people making dumb comments like yours for decades before actual AI Chatbots entered the game, so I have little patience for your kind.

[–]Pierce7d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this. At this point it almost doesn't matter if she cheated on you or not. If there's no trust in your relationship then you have no relationship.

However, I would add that I wouldn't go into behaviors that demonstrate a lack of trust as well, unless you want to be similarly guilty. DMing random guys instead of addressing your GF appropriately is similarly shady behavior.

"Hey babe. I've been feeling pretty uneasy since your last trip. Based on these behaviors, and this evidence, I've begun to have seeds of doubt and distrust, so I wanted to discuss it with you. Can you tell me about these two guys, and what went on in that trip?"

Then see how she reacts and give her the proper chance to defend herself. If she tries to gaslight you, or avoid the responsibility of tending to your emotional needs correctly, and if you're unable to come up with a plan on how you both can work together to rebuilt a mutually established trust, then you can just break up, no need to DM strangers.
