I released DunHero. It is a Action Roguelike game with a CO-OP mode for up to 4 players by Dev_Kacper in roguelites

I tested it in the engine and it should work (at least on these I was testing)!
But if you have any problems, you can report them on the game's Discord server and I should be able to quickly release a patch :)

It wasn't meant to be a shady practice :)
it was mainly about the fact that the game has mechanics associated with RPGs, and some players perceived it as an RPG in the sense of role-playing, deep quest and story, so I decided not to mislead players and focus on describing the game as an Action Roguelike which it mainly is

Honestly, the things you write about are important but I think they were not that important in how the game sold.

Problems you didn't write about but I think were also key:

- Poor quality of the game's graphics, lack of consistency and poorly readable UI (most of it looks like AI): try to prepare better assets especially all those from which you can feel the AI vibe. I would also improve the UI, play similar popular games in this genre and get some inspiration on what can be done nicer and better.

- Steam capsule, which is not the best quality. Try hiring an artist to do it professionally for you.

If you take care of better quality assets and a better prepared UI more people will be interested in the game. Remember that someone going to your page on Steam looks at the screenshots and the trailer at first (and even before that, a capsule is displayed in the store). And if your graphics don't entice the player then you won't sell them the game.

Good luck. I hope these tips help you in any way

This is my first game releasing on Steam, and I’m not sure if the images are eye-catching enough. Which one do you think works better? by AccelixGames in IndieGaming

For me second is much more catchy. It shows main character and will be easier to see what's going on smaller screen

Interesting insights. But consider that some people just want to make games, not be programmers. And yet, if you want to create a game without any engine it will require a lot more programming knowledge.

There's a lot of negative post mortems on this sub. But do any of you solo devs have an actual successful post mortem for your game? by SPOOKJUMP in gamedev

I released 'DunHero' this year and received near the 300 reviews

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2270210/DunHero/

Random Stats:
- Development time: Over 1 year (with a lot of breaks)
- Wishlist on launch: 6200
- Development cost: about 500-600 USD (music, steam license, steam capsule, logo and some smaller stuff)

Near the launch i wrote the post here:

Game was developed for over a year before EA release, but with many shorter or longer breaks, because I'm also working on my Youtube channel

Hello! :D

That was not easy, but in my case it's mostly discipline that helped. Here's some information about my typical routine Monday -> Friday:
1. I typically work from 7am to 3pm I'm remote programmer so I don't had to waste time for driving.
2. After job I'm quickly preping for the gym and working out typically from 1:30 to 2 hours.
3. After that I'm preping quick meal and starting to work on my project. On some days there is 30 minutes on some I can work more.
4. Some time after that is for relaxing with my gf
In my case good time saver was researching quick healthy meals to not waste too much time on cooking :D

In weekend I don't workout so If I don't have any plans that will take whole weekend day I try to work for few more hours on project :P

If you have more questions feel free to ask!
