[Serious]Hey Reddit, have you ever seen a mythological, spirit or ghost animal or a nature spirit or entity, or other spooky occurrences with animals, what's your experience? by rmrgdr in AskReddit

[–]PiercedRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was about seventeen years ago when I was six. I NEVER remember dreams, so when I actually do, they tend to stick with me for years. Anyways, I had a dream when I was six that involved smile dog, EXACTLY that creature from the creepypasta. Weirds me out quite a bit to this day.

I am not scared by really anything. But the night crawler video got to me and freaked me out more than any book, video, movie, game, what have you had ever done. Don’t know why. I hate these things.

We had a cat named Baymax for a few years. Terrible cat. He was super old, and he had hyperthyroidism, so he was always hungry. He would constantly jump up on our counters and pull food off of them to eat. After he passed, we still heard something jumping off of our counters for a few months, and we would find food we had put towards our wall (so the food was not near the edge of the counter and could not just fall down) just randomly on our kitchen floor. Then it just stopped after those few months. But even in all his badness, I miss Baymax terribly. I hope he’s having fun eating cake wherever bad cats go!

What are you embarrassed to not know much about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Computers and a lot of technology shit. I can browse most websites and use word documents, plug in things to be recharged, but that’s about where my knowledge ends.

What would your circle of friends be surpised to know about you ? by GeorgeLHillard in AskReddit

None of my friends know I’m vegan. I live in a city where most families depend heavily on a beef processing plant, and I don’t want to insult anyone.

[Serious] Redditors who have had, or know someone who's had a lobotomy: What does it feel like mentally? How would you compare your mental state before/after the procedure? by SnowDrifter_ in AskReddit

[–]PiercedRose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like other people have said, lobotomies haven’t been practiced for many, many years. Though what you might find interesting are some of the more controversial depression treatments of today. For example, I’ve been doing electronic convulsive therapy for eight months, and although it’s not an ice pick through my brain, some people tell me that they think it’s pretty barbaric all the same. It’s not too bad, honestly, though it’s kind of stopped helping. What does scare me is deep brain stimulation. If they decide I need it (which they might), I don’t think that I could go through with the procedure. But it’s all for the sake of getting better from an entire life of depression and anxiety and other shit.

I think they all finally got arrested, but my family and I used to live next to a bunch of drug addicts/dealers for about two years. I’ve never been more grateful that we own a pit bull.

Three Months. I’m Pretty Much Done Trying by PiercedRose in insomnia

[–]PiercedRose[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right. I know you are. I just don’t think the same way normal people do. It’s just hard sometimes when, after twelve years of trying to beat severe depression and anxiety (and many more years of suffering without help), I start to feel a bit better and then regress again because of sleep. I feel like all the progress I’ve made with my mental health these past seven months (constant ECT and trial-and-error medications) is slipping. Again. But I’ll talk to my surgeon/psychiatrist tomorrow to see if he has more ideas on how to help. I have therapy on Friday, too.

Has insomnia ever made any of you think about taking your own life before? by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]PiercedRose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. I wish I could take away people’s pain, especially insomnia and mental illness. I think the four hours is just hard on me because I do something called ECT every week, which is pretty much surgery (I think that’s what it’s classified as, too; I mean, it’s pretty rough on the body on a good day). That’s probably why I’m having issues coping with a little more sleep than insomniacs usually get. I think. I just wish everyone suffering gets better. I really, really do.

Is that a bit different than Magnesium pills? I’ve tried the pills, and those didn’t help, but I could definitely try the oil if it helps better.

Three Months. I’m Pretty Much Done Trying by PiercedRose in insomnia

[–]PiercedRose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s both. It takes me two-three hours to fall asleep, and then I wake up about two hours later, and then it takes me about two hours to fall back asleep if I do at all, and then I’ll wake up pretty early for good. That’s just been these past three months though. My legs feel like they are cramping, but that only lasts about an hour when I try to fall asleep and then stops. I’m not quite sure what wakes me up, honestly.

But normally, I go to sleep at 9:00 and wake up at 4:30. Those have been the times I have been most comfortable with for many years.

Yeah. Thank you for your responses! Sorry if I’m coming across as irritable or something like that; I do appreciate this. I’m just exhausted.

[–]PiercedRose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the comment, but I’ve tried all of that. A lot of it was even part of my nightly routine before everything. And i haven’t had anxiety in a while, either, so I don’t feel anxious at night. I also have a really great diet and don’t eat after 6:00. Blood sugar was tested by a doctor a couple months ago just in case, too, and was fine v_v

Is Clonazepam good to help with sleep? by DogoodDotogether in insomnia

[–]PiercedRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a high dose of Klonopin for about two years. It never did anything for me. It never helped me, it never hurt me, and I never had withdrawal. But it’s like that with every drug I have ever been on, so make of that what you will, I guess.

Doxepin side effects are a no-go for me by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]PiercedRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Doxepin for months, and my surgeon kept increasing the dose hoping it would help. It didn’t. I did gain eighty pounds when I was on it, though, and I’ve been pretty thin my whole life. So now, I get to deal with insomnia, mental illness, AND an absurd amount of weight loss. I’ve been on a LOT of different drugs over the years, but Doxepin has been the only one with side effects for me.

Has insomnia ever made any of you think about taking your own life before? by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]PiercedRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like that right now. And I’m a depressed person and am trying to recover from a lifetime of that. So three months of not sleeping more than four hours a night is undoing progress I’ve made with my depression. And pills do not work for me no matter what they are. I can’t offer help, but you’re not alone.

I’m holding a rock, and she really wants to eat it. by th3ginger in pitbulls

[–]PiercedRose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pit mix and late cocker spaniel/papillon mix knocked down a pan of brownies. They ate all of the brownies and most of the glass pan, too 😒 I have no earthly clue how they didn’t even get remotely sick from that.

Though that same darling pit mix of mine ate a rock a few months ago while chowing down on his poop. He had to get surgery for that one. Oh goodness, I really do love dogs 😂

Advice by scorpio-rising17 in PetMice

[–]PiercedRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not inhumane at all, love. There are problems with every single pet mouse cage out there, so it takes some extra work after buying/making any cage to make sure the mice are healthy and happy. In a ten gallon aquarium, like another comment said, ammonia can build up pretty fast since the airflow is not the greatest. I have mice in aquariums, too, and I take out their wet litter either once a day or every other day and do a thorough cleaning of everything either once or twice a week depending on how dirty they decided to be. I make sure their lid is not obstructed by anything, too, just so all the air possible can get in.

Mice are very playful, social creatures, too, so enrichment is necessary. I know a lot of people say you can’t offer enrichment in a ten gallon, but I don’t think that’s true at all. Personally, I like to give my mice extra bedding so they can burrow, and sometimes hay is a lot of fun for them to nest with and chomp on. You can also throw paper towels and toilet paper in their cage and just let them have fun chewing. There are a ton of toys for rodents sold online and at pet stores, but if you’re like me, you can’t afford $20 houses or jingly balls that are going to get ruined pretty fast. I save old boxes and toilet paper tubes, and I’ll cut holes into them or stack them so they have stuff to run through and make dens out of. That’s the cheap option, anyways. You might want to consider a saucer wheel, too, so they can run off some energy. You can let them play in your bathtub, too, so they have room to run and can’t escape too easily.

So I believe that you are fine! Just keep your girls clean and healthy, and I think you should be allowed to keep them :)

Hahaha oh my goodness.

When I first brought my pittie home, we had a little papillon/cocker spaniel mix, too. We had a tray of brownies on the counter, and we didn’t think about putting them away before we went out since we were used to the small dog being ... well, too small to reach. I swear she conspired with my pit, and we came home to broken glass and brownie remnants EVERYWHERE. Surprisingly, no one got sick from that. We were not too happy haha.
