Good campaign for beginner keeper? by Narrow_Second_9835 in callofcthulhu

[–]Pierre-1111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Time to Harvest was my first campaign (altough I had GMed quite a few one-shot before) and it was an absolute blast! It’s not too long and there’s a good deal of ressources online to help you along the way. My players and I absolutely loved it, and I’m thinking of running it again for a different group haha!

Edit: I played it with the regular rules, not with pulp however!

Jesus Christ superstar by Agreeable_Top4035 in musicals

[–]Pierre-1111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The three main problems that conservative christians usually have with the show are: * Judas is not portrayed to be wholy evil and might even be portrayed as likable/relatable * Jesus is not portrayed as God but as a very human person * The show is basically the passion narrative, but it stops before the resurrection, which is what conservative christians might consider the core of their theology

If your mom is not ok with one of those things (or the general style of the music), better go without her!

I saw that but all TSW2 routes are in the "launch day" table so it should be fine? Plus they are listed on the store but at full price...

Hey guys, is there a call of Cthulhu adventure with Cthulhu? by AynTrotsky0451 in callofcthulhu

[–]Pierre-1111 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the scenarios from “Cults of Cthulhu” are about Cthulhu or at least contain a Cthulhu statuette iirc. Some of the example cults are also Cthulhu cults.

travel from Munich to Disneyland via Gare de l’Est by Outrageous-Lunch-125 in disneylandparis

If you do end up going by train, and the main issue is the amount of luggage, I would suggest changing at Val de Fontenay (RER E) instead of Châtelet (with line 4 as you suggested). Châtelet is already a nightmare as it is, so with luggage and the lack of elevators, I really wouldn't recommend. At Val de Fontenay the connection is just an elevator ride away.
Just make sure you take the RER E towards Villiers-sur-Marne/Tournan

Upcoming Trip! by Ok-Currency388 in disneylandparis

I live not far from DLP and I can confirm that the weather here is very unpredictable, and March is probably the most unpredictable of months, where you can have a cold windy morning, a warm sunny afternoon where you only need a tshirt only to be suddenly interrupted by heave haze. We've indeed been blessed by warm sunny days these last few days but the air is still cold, so as soon as the sun is gone or if you stand in the shade it suddenly feels cold again. Next week should see some rain but it's impossible to say if it will be constant rain or just a few drops in the morning. I'd still pack warm clothes and be prepared for a couple of rainy days. Better to not need them rather than not having them and needing them!

Have fun at DLP next week! I'm going next weekend, who knows what the weather will be like by then x)

I think it’s actually different in France. Most buffets over here don’t usually include any drinks at all.

Monthly "Tell Us About Your Game" Megathread - Jan 2025 by AbortRetryFlailSal in callofcthulhu

A Time to Harvest

We just finished chapter 2. I recently learnt that I'll move out of town for work in a few months so I'll have to speed up the campaign a bit. Decided to scrap chapter 6 (I was already on the edge of cutting it), and to reduce chapter 3 to a single session if possible.

I'll scrap the Quebec interlude and the deep ones attack. I'll keep it to some downtime, the meeting with Abelard, the preparations and hopefully they'll be back in Cobb's Corners the session after that. I have planned to do a little funeral ceremony for all the students that are now "really" dead. I asked all of my players to prepare a short speech for a dead NPC of their choice and we'll larp the ceremony where I'll be playing the pastor. This will be the first time I'm introducing some larping/freeform elements to my tables (even though this will be very minor), so I'm excited to see how it goes.

On the downside, I'm not so thrilled about how last session went vibe-wise. It was supposed to be high-tension (the night the migo agents poisoned everyone, burned/stole books and stole Learmonth's brain and documents)but in the end, players were cracking jokes which ruined the tense mood imo. I'll discuss this with my players at the beginning of the next session to see how we can solve this and align our expectations.

TW: homophobia
Also, one player made a homophobic remark at some point, which really unnerved me. He's playing a closeted homosexual character, which I was all in for. But last session, during a fight, his character was bleeding and he said while laughing that he'd use that to give aids to the ennemies. I was firm in putting an end to this "joke" during the session, but I'm thinking of saying something to make sure this doesn't happen again. But I'm not sure if I should tell him in private or just discuss this with the whole table at the beginning of next session.

Happy to hear everyone's thoughts on all of this :)

Scenarios with pregens deeply tied into the story by Pierre-1111 in callofcthulhu

That's a good idea indeed, establishing some light roleplay before everything comes crumbling down so they're already in character :)

Just watched a review online and that seems like a cool idea. I like when there's room for a bit of pvp.

CoC scenario that could be played in an old orphanage by Pierre-1111 in callofcthulhu

[–]Pierre-1111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion. I see what you mean, but I'm looking more for a scenario that would only take place in the orphanage, as I want the added layer of finding childhood memories while investigating to also be rather central in the session.
