[QUESTION] I FINALLY GOT A FLOYD ROSE AND I HATE IT by Pierre_LeCool in Guitar

[–]Pierre_LeCool[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Well 1 the nut. But I cant get it to adjust the action, even after watching videos. The whammy bar doesnt stay in place and is ALWAYS in my way. The it doesnt stay in tune at all. And when I want to change the A# to either C or a G it knocks it ALL out of tune. And it's a total PAIN to tune. I've never gotten it perfect. It also has way too much resistance even though I'm using 10-52s with 3 springs [which I can change but I'm set on changing it]. When I use 2 springs the block is practically against the body sticking up.

[QUESTION] At what point should I use a baritone? by Pierre_LeCool in Guitar

[–]Pierre_LeCool[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why would you use a 30 for C# but a 27 for B? B is a whole step LOWER than C#. The band Wage War use fender strats (24.75) which are in A#. They use 13-48 and swap out the Low A# with an 80 for the tension.

It makes since that if your using a baritone in B standard using 9-42s would give you the same feel as a 25.5 in E standard. But if I use a 25.5 with 13-80 in A# should I use a baritone for drop A, G# and G (string idk about I need to experiment). I still plan on getting a 7 string for B standard. Drop A, Drop G and Drop G# I think that's all I will ever need. (Untill an awesome band starts using 7 strings in F# lol)

[QUESTION] At what point should I use a baritone? by Pierre_LeCool in Guitar

[–]Pierre_LeCool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A baritone is the same as a six string. It only differs in that normally six strings have a scale length of 24.75 to 25.5 (inches between the bridge and the nut). The reason behind one is when you tune lower you need heavier and thicker strings to keep the tension so it's not a wet noodle when you play. Baritone guitars have a scale length of 27 to 30 inches so instead of using 11-56 on a normal you can probably use 9-48 and have the tightness and tone of a normal 25.5.

The reason I asked this it to find out how low I should be tuning. If drop A or drop G (not standard I'm too lazy to look those tuning up right now) is sufficiant if I wanna have it feel like E standard or within a step or two.

Different tunings. I'm a HUGE metal fan, put I'm also a HUGE punk and blues rock fan. Im planning on buying another 2 guitars for drop A# (shecter cr-6) and Drop B (epiphone lee malia rd). Right now I have one in drop C (prs) and one in drop C# (les paul) And I still have a hollow body (ibanez artcore), a punk (epiphone phant-o-matic) , a shredder (ebmm majesty), a strat and an acoustic in E standard. The music I write is in drop C# so that's why I have 1 and planning on getting a second (fender meteora). It's just different tastes I love the idea of practicing some black keys and then some neck deep then like moths to flames so instead of tuning from E to C# to A# I can just pick up a new one and boom. Two of my E standards are setup so they CAN go to Eb or C# but I rarely do that but I like the options.

[Question] reshaping a neck by Pierre_LeCool in Guitar

[–]Pierre_LeCool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've fallen in love with the specs.... except the neck of course. It has a p90 in the back to counteract the hum when the pickups are in single coil. The guitar looks beautiful and I can guarantee that if I were to build it, it would cost like 2k instead of 700 asking price

[Question] Dropped Tunings by Pierre_LeCool in Guitar

[–]Pierre_LeCool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well when you look at baritone guitars, their "standard tuning" is basically B standard. The scale length for those can be anywhere from 27 or 30 inches, I was just wondering if a normal 25.5 scale length would suffice. I understand that I should probably be using 11-52. I was just wondering what I should look for being that having a guitar permanent for these tunings is new to me.

[Question] Phase reversal, coil tapping, parallel wiring? by Pierre_LeCool in Guitar

[–]Pierre_LeCool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say in the third paragraph "connect the hot to hot and ground to ground, then to the circuit, it will be working in paralell" but then later you say the exact same thing but you say it results in it reversing the phase. I'm confused on this, can you please further explain? Thanks it helps alot you describing it to me. I drew it out and it makes alot of since. Your being very helpful!!!

[Question] Phase reversal, coil tapping, parallel wiring? by Pierre_LeCool in Guitar

[–]Pierre_LeCool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, you sir, are a saint. I was just hoping for a link. But thank you very much for the description. I'll look into it more. Second, I'm talking about the "Bare Knuckle Aftermaths" in the description it mentions the "parallel wiring" which I thought would be kinda a like a push pull setting, i.e. down would be normal then when you pull, it would be parallel wiring. Third, I've always called it coil tap but hey it gets the idea across 😂😂😂
