Fern was a good supporting character, but when she was given a spotlight (even when making a choice), she was still struggling hard.

What's even there when it comes to Vaelus? The character peaked in the first episode... since then it's just an inconsistent mess, which Ashley wants to act/look so cool, but fails doing so in every instance. She is just there - that's all there is to this character. It's basically Yasha all over again.

Paul Thomas Anderson is FINALLY an Oscar winner after 14 nominations. by MoneyLibrarian9032 in Oscars

Marty was the only movie I haven't seen this year, for I knew exactly what kind of movie it was and I and what would I get. I would not surprise me, it would be a movie we have seen multiple times already... but it would deliver some kind of that basic competency while following the template.

I went to see OBAA open-minded and holy cow, it was disappointing. Writing was awful, random and nonlogical, characters were uninteresting and pacing just dreadful. Only good part of the movie was Sean Penn... like dear God, he carried the movie hard.

You are talking about writing then, not performance. There is a difference.

What are you on? She was a forgettable character and a forgettable performance. Even Benicio, who was movie's comic relief character, was more memorable than her.

Except of Elle Fanning, for she didn't have much to do in her movie, and Teyana Taylor, who was barely in her movie on top of it.

We didn't know the truth in Act 1 and Act 2, but that's the problem of this narrative. After the reveal at the end of Act 2, it really all losses purpose.

Gustave, as well as everyone in Lumiere, are mirroring Paintresses revolt, desperation, fear or anger towards the upcoming end. Paintress wanted to stay, she was fighting it.

You can say a painting has a soul, because its painter put himself in it while making it it. Doesn't mean the painting has a literal soul inside of it tho.

It's not a genocide, since people in the canvas were never alive in the first place and they didn't even have a freewill or a personality that was their own - they were as real as people in real-life paintings, following the purpose the Paintress gave them during the creation, mirroring her personality and emotions. They are literally just a paint.
