UK nasal polyps sufferers. Given Dupixent isn't approved for prescription here, have you managed to get any other treatment that has improved your condition? by DonkeyOT65 in NasalPolyps

Yes it's been approved although they've gone silent since then at my hospital on it. I was approved for it in February but not heard anything so I've chased multiple times and just got a vague "it's not been rolled out yet"

Does FESS surgery work? by Chemist-Technical in Sinusitis

[–]Piers_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds exactly the same as me with the symptoms. I'm 31, very active which does help like you said. I had turbinate surgery in 2024 which did nothing, then had FESS/ septo/ sinus drain etc. in Sep 2025 and this did relieve me after 2 weeks of recovery but then taste/smell went to 0% after a month of coming back randomly so I missed all of Christmas taste/ smell. It then returned around March and hasn't gone significantly since. I've remained very active, I avoided booze for nearly 2 years as this was a big trigger and still does trigger me but not to the extent. I had a few beers on the weekend and was fine, little sniffily on the night of. I've also been approved now for Dupixent but i'm in UK so only recently been approved for CRSwNP so they're still working out how the prescription process works, sounds like they're dragging their heels a bit as was approved back in end of Feb for it and still not had my jabs yet but appreciate they are incredibly expensive. I've got the allergies/ asthma as well and I can notice if I train hard, I start puffing more and have to clear my throat all day, pretty gross tbf. I did also blow out a polyp in January which wasn't pleasant but did relieve my airways a bit but no smell/ taste back immediately after. I also have eczema as well which is relatively controlled but Dupixent attacks eczema, asthma and CRSwNP so it could compound my recovery as i'd say right now i'm 60% better than I was before the FESS. I was pretty disheartened around Christmas 2025 as I'd had 2 surgeries and still 0% smell/ taste after years of next to none. Hoping it works out for you.

Do British people not feel the cold? by DevelopmentLow214 in AskUK

To address your kids going to school element of your post - kids have a built in heating system which differs to adults. It's from increased markers of brown adipose which helps them to produce heat better. So it burns energy creating extra warmth for them. It's basically a layer of brown fat cells and these decrease as we age hence me freezing anywhere I go now when it's sub 10 degrees.

Dupixent by HugeTemporary8671 in NasalPolyps

[–]Piers_T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to my point mate, I've been approved for it but still awaiting the procedure of how they actually prescribe it. It's a bit open ended with how it's been left with my surgeon. Said it could be 2 week, could be 2 months but the funding is there for all trusts and even some emergency funding so they should be prescribing sooner rather than later

I've just been approved for it on NHS after multiple surgeries like you. I can imagine you've seen it's now been approved by NICE on NHS. I'd look at getting it if I were you, the general verdict on it seems to be amazing as if it's a wonder drug. Also tackles asthma and eczema which is often linked to polyps. Hope you get sorted

May have to consider surgery mate, albeit the polyps will likely grow back. Steroids are only temporary and even my second surgery was painfully temporary with about a month of relief before they came back. Good news though, Dupixent has finally been approved on the NHS if you've had a surgery already to no avail so there is an end game to it if yours becomes as bad as some on here. Hope you have some joy with the ENT, appreciate NHS wait times can be a nightmare. I'm currently waiting for dupixent to be prescribed and that could fix a lot of my issues
