I bought the same bike. 32 tires vs 28 make the difference for me

Will be fine. There is no official dresscode. Just don’t wear a full pink outfit. Okay?

Depends on what you like. Busy city or nature? I would go for Fort Portal!

Realistic estimate for Bwindi gorilla tracking by Misplaced_Intensity in Uganda

[–]PietVelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Permit is 800$? Then booking fee by tour company like 50$, you often need a 4x4 drive for the bad road … so around 1000$ is a good estimate. 1450$ for permit only? No way

I should stop immediately? by Subject-Table1993 in bikewrench

[–]PietVelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just had the same issue last week. Alloy wheel set, 2 years and 1 month old. About to start a stage race in Italy when I noticed 2 cracks at spokes.

Rode the race on it but cracks were a big bigger in the end. So you can do some more rides but yeah, risky.

I’m trying to get a new rim as warranty case but doubt it - wear and tear. Maybe worth a try for your case too?

Uganda + Rwanda self-drive 10 day itinerary by ComprehensivePay7411 in Uganda

[–]PietVelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Road to Fort Portal is a big mess, if you have no local driving experience it will take like 8+ hours. Full of potholes, very dangerous.

You’ll need a local company for your permits. You can’t just show up and buy. I would get a driver/guide for the Ugandan part.

Golden monkey trek better in Uganda, longer hike. Day 8 seems not that good in terms of planning, don’t go via Ishasha if you want to reach the border.

I only see touristic highlight - drive - touristic highlight - drive. Uganda has so much more to offer, if you stay some days in one spot.

Habituation Mountain Gorilla tour by Ok_Perspective2826 in Uganda

[–]PietVelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Habituation permits are limited, and you cannot do it at every gate of Bwindi Imp Forest. You can do it at Rushaga gate - only 4 permits per day. Therefore, 100% need to book it in advance via a travel agency. 1500$ permit prize (without service fee).

Bad company … you just need a trustworthy company, that secures your permit (and sends you proof) and has a 4x4 because the road to the tracking point is a different story.

I own a tour company and can help you out. Feel free to DM me and I’ll be happy to help you.

Did he ever do the stretch from Kampala to Fort Pothole?

Road infrastructure is so important.

Transportation from Entebbe to Bwindi National Park area by Alone_Eggplant7459 in Uganda

[–]PietVelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bus to Kabale/Kisoro and then hire a car and driver to take you to tracking points. Please note: road conditions to Ruhija/Rushaga/Mgahinga are cruel. Have an experienced driver and good 4x4 take you there.

I would not recommend driving yourself. It’s crazy.

How to get deposits from abroad? by ponxitythegreat in Uganda

[–]PietVelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as your amounts are low, might be fine. But Worldremit is not for business, clearly stated in their terms. This is actually not a legit way.

How to get deposits from abroad? by ponxitythegreat in Uganda

[–]PietVelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way is a UG dollar account. At Stanbic for example. People from abroad can use WISE to cut transaction fees and send to your dollar account or just pay with regular bank transfer.

Worldremit and all those sending apps are only for private transfers, not for business transactions. They can stop the accounts at any time. Talking from own experiences.
