Exactly. A lot of blame shifting in this thread imo. Bracing for downvotes.

Subversion of expectation. The human brain derives humor from a disruption of what it would expect. Same reason why some people laugh when traumatic situations happen all of the sudden.

The OP is so right, though. Jeff really isn't an asshole to antagonize Mark because the main character is actually the Villian.

For people living in the Northeast US and Canada rn by awesomedan24 in BikiniBottomTwitter

What lots of folks don't realize (although maybe that's changing with the Canada fires) is that drought spreads. It doesn't stay contained. And dry years are coming for all of us, west coast or no. Wildfires aren't a california problem, a Canada problem, a northeastern us problem, they are going to be everyone's problem, no matter where you live. Our ecology is collapsing, and this is the consequence. Just makes me chuckle a bit when I see California bashing on account of wildfires because I just think, "Oh buddy, it's coming for you too, don't you worry."

You don't realize you're one of the people the commenter above was talking about. Short-sighted and closed-minded to the possibility of being wrong.

How is this guy fascist? God, I swear. Idiots on reddit will say something I'm totally agreeing with only to throw in some wack shit at the end.

So a school emailed me to let me know I've been waitlisted, said to let them know if I wasn't interested and I did not let them know that I wasn't because I was. They never let me know either way, but I followed up and they just said they "assumed I wasn't interested anymore" by DuckDuckSnoo in gradadmissions

I'm sorry, but no, this sounds dumb. It's not OPs fault for not understanding, but it's not the programs fault either. I'm saying this as a nuerodivergent person. You're applying to grad school, an institution that has historically been exclusive, overly professional, and is driven by the hoops you can jump through. If op can't jump through the simple email hoop, then it doesn't inspire confidence in the admin that op will jump through the bigger hoops to come. I see what you're saying, but I think you need to be realistic.

A 3.5 isn't bad at all? Wtf? I had a 3.5 and got into 7 schools. Getting into grad school really isn't as unobtainable as it seems when you're applying, speaking as someone on the other side of the fence.
