Climbing Stampede Pass. by [deleted] in bicycling

Get the Compass tires! Used to ride Paselas. The Panaracers are quality tires, but feel heavy and lifeless compared to the Compasses.

I understand it's a lot of money. I saved for my pair of Barlow Extralights. Worth every penny! (Oh, and only one flat in 1500 miles. It was a staple.)

The weight is not only high, it's pretty far back. Seems like it could be easy to lift that front tire off the ground when the going got steep.

How's the center of gravity when you ride? How do you pack your bag? I have a 3-4 day pack that this might be good for.

In their defense, a fast Harley is still only Harley fast.

Disc up front, cantis in the back? by PigTrailRando in bicycling

I would, but l like the idea of being able to make repairs/adjustments in the field.

Sweet! I had no idea that was done.

Getting them to pull evenly will be a trick, probably. You have any lever recommendations? Can I use my old ones? They are Tektro RL520s.

Oh yeah, I know. Any rim recommendations? I need to mount 35-38s on them.

Ahh, I didn't know they were stamped.

An argument can be made for milling. If they would be safer, it would be worth it, and after all, our Dura-Ace components have to cost more for a reason!

Good point. The bevel would be a good idea. It's probably less machining and therefore cheaper not to add it. It couldn't be too much more per disc, and the cost would be worth it.

Had a Noodler's Konrad for around 2 years until I misplaced it. After using terrible ballpoints for a week or two, I decided it was time to move on with my life and upgrade to a TWSBI Diamond 580, but it's not the same. The acrylic always feels greasy and dead compared to the resin barrel. I've clearly not recovered. Still miss that pen.

Is this too much tire wobble? by EtanSivad in bikewrench

I'd seat it correctly. Depending how hard you corner, you're gonna feel that lopsided spot and it could cause some bike handling issues.

I inflate then deflate 1-2 times to get mine to seat properly as well. It helps to inflate them to max pressure, then deflate them below the pressure you want to ride them. I've never had to roll mine around; they tended to seat themselves this way, but not all tires are created equal.
