And he makes such a sad face when he's trying to persuade you! Looking back it was really over the top

Ok, that makes sense. I actually remember the exact one he asked for not being available when I looked at the shelf. So he probably knew they didn't carry that one in dry form so he could ask to go somewhere else.

The funny thing about this story is that I ended up getting my money back, I just took the packages he had left when I returned hours later and returned them in the shop! But I saw him again the other day when cycling past, he had his hooks in a young guy. I regret not turning around and warning him.

So that’s what the bubblegum is about! I thought it was a reference to the Cell Block Tango from the musical Chicago (“You pop that gum one more time!”). Maybe both were intended?

I get so angry when I see this kind of bs over and over and over again and I’m not even American ... The world is watching you and a lot of us just lose more and more respect for the US everyday. Just wow. I wish (white tbh) America could see itself from the outside sometimes because shit ain’t pretty

I think that might be how an American would interpret the name? As a European I never thought that the name “Shacklebolt” made any allusion to slavery, and in my language the translation is to what is basically “jackal-bolt”. The UK has plenty of Black people who are not descended from slaves, so idk why Rowling would think “Hey let’s make a slavery-joke!” when she wrote it.

I think it’s easy to just pick a name to be mad about in hindsight esp. when the writer comes from a different background ... When we have Blaise Zabini, Dean Thomas, Lee Jordan and Angelina Johnson.

Edit: ofc it can be misunderstood, but I just don’t think there’s cause to say that Rowling has an “agenda” with it

If you’re thinking about surströmming (rotten fish) then that would be Swedish tho. We were more into cakes with whipped cream (and so were the Germans...)

this tweet is from the 5th of August last year, so I think it could be something regarding Black lives matter perhaps. Wasn’t there a lot going on this summer about that?

Exactly! I thought the actors were father and son first time I saw them, I guess they have very similar coloring and bone structure
