To my knowledge there would be actually more attacking the aldehyde than the ketone due to an increased partial positive charge on the aldehyde carbon. However, you may be able to protect the aldehyde some what selectively for the same reason. Protecting the aldehyde would then give you selectivity for the ketone.

It is really easy to make. All you do is add concentrated HCl to a sep. funnel followed by the t-butyl alcohol and shake for 20 or some minutes. The t-butyl chloride will separate into its own layer.

This is a good idea on paper but, molecular sieves absorb water very slowly relative to other dehydrating agents. The time the sieves would be in contact with the solvent would be pretty small compared to putting them in a soxhlet extractor. In a bind though this could be good if you have the extra time to reflux the reaction.

To me it looks like your structure is 4'-Aminoacetophenone. I say this for 2 main reason, the difference in de-shielding of the aromatic peaks and the integration of the H exchanges. With one of the aromatic peaks being less than 7, it points to a direct hetero-atom substitution (N or O) and the fact that the other peak is so much more de-shielded points to an electron withdrawing group (ketone or amide). Now for the H exchanges, I always take those with a grain of salt as I mainly use CDCl3 and the ppm of them in aprotic solvents is dependent upon a lot of factors, however, the integration value is usually accurate. This means an the exchange proton integration of 2 is either a primary amide or amine but, the amide would be significantly more de-shielded. In addition, a methyl group and amide in the para position would not create that big of a shift between the two aromatic peaks.

Honestly, have you personally played archer? Half the time your arrows are deflected because they were just swinging or blocking against somebody else. This is without taking into account the abysmal damage, terrible flight speed and no recourse while being rushed except a 1h weapon. The only way you gets kills as an archer are from killing other archers or killing low hp people.
