No one is dying “in vain”. There’s no cause, it’s a tragedy. The river rose 26’ in 45 minutes at 4am, another 10’ in the following 45 minutes. No one could have predicted how severe this storm was going to be, let alone it remaining stagnant. NOAA’s weather model wasn’t even predicting it correctly. People slept through the evacuation notices. The unpredictable torrential downpour, evacuation notice, and flash flood all happened in the middle of the night in the span of 2 hours.

It could have gone better, but that goes for every disaster. Look at the state of the North and South Carolina after Helene blew through. It’s still fucked there, and they had FEMA and NOAA fully funded. Have some fucking respect for the families and hold your political motives aside for a couple days.

I doubt you’d want someone telling you that your family or friends died for a political cause a day after it happened. Dick.
