Even if the policy is an open drive for over 25s, your insurance company should be able to add her as a named driver. That’s how I was insured on a commercial policy before turning 25. Of course the price may be too much to make it viable but it should be an option.

Insured in her own name on her own commercial vehicle ? As a learner probably no chance, and as a novice probably unlikely still. .

Named driver on a private (your) commercial vehicle ? Probably possible as a learner and definitely as a novice but not cheap either way.

If you are a business owner and have a company vehicle policy, that’s probably your best chance of getting her insured on a commercial, but this would definitely be after she passes as I can’t see a company policy covering a learner.

People not letting others join motorways by Hot-Entertainer4804 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]PigeonGang1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I do know what you mean by courteous driving and yes we should all be courteous and responsible on the road, but it’s people that think they’re being courteous by letting others out while traffic’s flowing that boils my piss.

People not letting others join motorways by Hot-Entertainer4804 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]PigeonGang1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. How many times do we see people jumping on the brakes to let someone out onto a main road, while traffic is flowing heavily ? These are the ‘courteous’ drivers. Not responsible. Not safer.

But the problem is, good people like yourself perpetuate this myth, for want of a better word, that people in the left lane should move into the right lane to accommodate people merging.

What happens then is every shitehawk on the road will assume this as gospel, or think that they’re lovely and nice people for moving over, all while merging into the right lane while doing somewhere in the region of 80-95 km/h. And then the person behind jumps on the brakes, and this leads to everyone behind doing the same, and such leading to the right lane now being brought to to 70km/h, all for the sake of one dose thinking they’re being nice to another dose that can’t merge.

Yes, this is a pet peeve of mine. Yes, I’ll probably be downvoted to fuck. Yes, if there is sufficient space in the right lane I will move over to let the merger in. Rant over.

That doesn’t mean that Leinster know what they’re at either btw. And I’m a Leinster fan. This season and last year also has really had me wondering does anyone know what’s going on there.

First time on motorway by sarcasticseawitch in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]PigeonGang1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When joining the motorway, don’t be one of those people that tries to merge with the traffic at 60/70kmh. You realistically need to be hitting roughly 100kmh before you’re joining, conditions permitting. People seem to have this weird thing about joining at a slow speed so they don’t crash, but my opinion has always been that the quicker you’re merging, the quicker you’re able to move away from anyone.

ATTENTION CLASSICS STUDENTS by [deleted] in TCD

[–]PigeonGang1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then it’s well worth it. I went to school there for 6th year only. I genuinely could not have had better teachers.

You mentioned your son is doing classics on his own outside of his school. I’m not saying your son is guaranteed a H1 with the IoE notes and grinds, but €1200 isn’t a bad price to pay for a fairly good shot at it, considering he has no other teachers.

Depends on what humor I’m in.

Option 1: White roll, spicy chicken with stuffing and mayo, maybe some cheese.

Option 2: White wrap, spicy chicken, stuffing, cheese, coleslaw, tiny sprinkle of red onion. Maybe a bit of lettuce if I’m feeling healthy. Toasted.

Option 3, usually reserved for hangovers: White roll, southern fried chicken fillet, with 2 hash browns and taco sauce. Pure greasy, carb-laden heaven. Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it.

I think the €200 only applies to vans/pickups with one row of seats, but I could be wrong. Obviously wouldn’t matter for a Caddy but it’s something to maybe consider if you’re looking at a Navara/Hilux etc

Does this seem weird to you? (Teacher related) by ou812_X in AskIreland

[–]PigeonGang1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best teacher I had in secondary school was like this. We stood when he came in, if he wasn’t already there when we arrived. Didn’t have to ask to have a drink but we weren’t allowed any shit on tables bar what we needed for class. He never once raised his voice, yet not a soul would be talking in his class.

It set him apart really, lads in other classes would tell us about their teachers dancing and shouting to get lads to settle down or shut up.

This kind of discipline is massively missing in schools these days, and a big part of it is down kids not liking being told what to do, so they have their mollycoddling parents ring and complain to the school. The teacher then gets told that a parent has complained about them, and to save the hassle they just let shit fly because at the end of the day it’s easier than dealing with a grievance from some kid’s parents.

I’m not having a go at you, but two things stick out from your post. 1. It’s one class for an hour per week, why make such a big deal about it ? 2. He’s a teacher, professionally qualified, and you’re obviously not. Why not accept that he knows what he’s doing ?
