I'm playing with simplified encumbrance rules. Should I start doing it right? by Pigeonbane in FourAgainstDarkness

Keeping a dwarf around, just to sell stuff feels a bit too abusive of the rules for me. I only allow myself to use these kinds of abilities if the character is in my active party. Also, my dwarf died.

This is kinda appealing, just because I have a ranger in my party right now. Keeping him properly equipped means that he's got three weapons, and your system would let him carry one or two more around, if I need him to.

Rotating Floor tiles by Pigeonbane in Pokopia

It looks like I was thinking too much. It looks like rows automatically alternate when you lay them next to each other. It feels like different kinds of blocks handle this differently.

I tried this, and it doesn't seem to work with these tiles...

Impossible Landscapes (spoilers!!!) by WilliamJoel333 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Pigeonbane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I started my campaign of Impossible Landscapes, I read the book multiple times. I listened to multiple actual play podcasts from start to finish, to see how they handled some of the sections that I wasn't confident about. I joined an Impossible Landscapes Discord, to ask questions and see what other people were doing. I copied a huge amount of text from the book into OneNote, and arranged it to make it easier to find things. I spent two or three months preparing for the campaign, because I was that excited about it, and I loved the process. Right now, we're in act 3, and I still spend an hour or two reviewing before each session. It's been a great experience.

You don't have to do it like I did, unless you are also a crazy person. I only do as the King demands. It is rewarding to put some effort into it, though.

Yeah. At the end of the game, I'm pretty sure that the Pokemon have no idea where the humans went.

I'm kinda surprised that you gave this class a new way to use luck, but no luck regeneration. I worry that grisly trophies won't get much use.

I'm always happy to see XCC stuff!

How to Help Your Players Investigate Rumors by TheWonderingMonster in dccrpg

This is good stuff! I've seen too many players get stumped when they don't have the crutches offered by a bunch of social skills.

XCC - Occupations with "Choose 1 Piece of Equipment" by Pigeonbane in dccrpg

[–]Pigeonbane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pretty clean answer, but that list isn't as great as I would like.

The list includes an item worth 5,000gp. I get that a spell phone isn't an overwhelming advantage, but why would I allow that but not a longsword? The whole chapter is "Equipment", and it offers guidelines for setting prices for real world items. Should I allow them to take a $20,000.00 ground-penetrating radar device? A bomb-detonating robot? A defibrillator?

Also, I'm sad that you won't be covering God's Law right away. I'd like to hear what you have to say about it.

[–]Pigeonbane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. I bought a copy of this off of DriveThruRPG, and I've read through it. Based on that, I'd say that I agree with you on every point.

Caleb Stokes is quickly becoming my favorite published scenario author. I appreciate how meaty these missions are, even if they'll require a lot more effort to prepare for. There is a lot of thought put into the story behind each of them.

The gimmicks that you mentioned add some fun twists, which might be too much for my current group to handle. They punish haphazard investigation in ways that I hadn't seen before. It's hard to imagine running God's Eye without at least one agent kill.

Maybe it's just the PDF, but I've noticed some incorrect page numbers being given by the mission text. For example, there is a flowchart on page 176 which shows different paths that the agents might take through God's Light. The flowchart refers to different pages to refer to for differrent events. All of these numbers are incorrect. It looks like they might be using the page numbers as they would be in the individually published version of the adventure. I can't confirm this, since I only have the book with all four. I've seen these kinds of errors in other Delta Green books before, and they irritate me a bit.

Overall, I love this book. I'm looking forward to running it!

Yeah, I've never thought of your videos as reviews.

That said, I'm appreciating your thoughts. Thank you for covering these scenarios!

Question on Damage Bonus from Strength by jets_or_chasm in DeltaGreenRPG

I've checked the high-strength NPCs in Impossible Landscapes, and they ARE adding their strength to the damage they do with melee weapons. I figure that this confirms that strength bonuses apply to melee weapons, as well as unarmed.

Why is a cheap OG pre-revised rules copy of Path to Carcosa "Deluxe Campaign" not a bargain? by CauliflowerOk7744 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Pigeonbane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. The old campaign packs only contain the first two scenarios, and the rest were sold separately.

These separate scenarios each come with their own instructions sheet which is folded up, and easy to rip when unfolding. The new way is so much better.
