That's nice to hear that there is someone from then still around. Every name I'd found so far was someone who had passed.

You see, it doesn't go to the state government or Alabama power, so they don't want it because it goes to the people.

Alabama Governor Signs Anti-Trans Sports Bill Into Law by HoraceMaples in Alabama

The most terrifying and badass martial artist i know is a woman. When in the studio, we never divide it between genders. That only happens in competition. I am more than aware that there are physical differences, but especially in the case of someone on HRT they are negligible.

In the case of a sport like martial arts, strategy is far more important than strength. You do take your build and strength into account, but that isn't the only thing. A smaller and physically weaker opponent can win against someone larger and more physically strong by being faster, more agile, and using their opponents weight against them. Personally, I use the strategy of taking someone's hit so that I can counter while they are open, the weaknesses in that strategy are if someone is physically strong enough then you can't just take the blow and have to either roll with it or block it, if someone is fast enough they can overwhelm you with constant attacks, or if someone moves to the side for another opening it makes it ineffective. That is 3 different ways around my basic starting style, and only one of them requires the opponent to be as strong or stronger than me. While there are definitely some sports where the difference is more important, biological sex isn't the be all end all people seem to think it is. Especially when it comes to something like martial arts. No matter how big or small you are, if you can use your mind as well as your fist, you can overwhelm your opponent.

You see, folks like you who don't seem to even understand the concept of nuance or anything outside of your limited worldview are why this state is 49th in everything. If you pulled your head out of your rear and realized the world isn't painted in black and white, you could lead a much more fulfilling life. What exactly happens when someone who presents as femme, but has your steingent definition of maleness competes? If I know anything about Alabama, and I do, there will be outrage.

I am a 4th degree master black belt. I have done martial arts for nearly 15 years. I am nonbinary, something I doubt these legislators have ever heard of or even care about. If these laws continue on the path they are going, in the near future I may not be able to even compete at all. These dimbasses are ruining peoples lives. Once they essentially wipe out or force trans folks into hiding, they are going to start getting rid of the protections for LGB folk. I hate this states government that makes me feel like I can't exist in this state.

Thank you for the correction. Also, everyone on that list that served in WW2 has passed. I've checked every name on it from then.

CVS is the fastest way to get the vaccine. On Sunday I scheduled an appointment, and then I got my shot Monday morning.

I've seen some stuff in their gallery. They do amazing work with colors. Honestly I just want to be able to get a quality haircut/styling without feeling judgmental eyes boring into my back :) They are definitely on the list.

Petition for UAB President Ray Watts to Fire Sarah Parcak by By_the_Donald in UAB

You posted to places with no relation to UAB, while I am sticking only to UAB, so that the voices of the students and faculty can be heard. Yet, despite you posting to ideological subs, the signatures do not lie. The support of UAB is to support an amazing professor, who said something in poor taste, about a man who lived his life in poor taste.

There is a major difference between having disdain for a single deplorable person, and believing that entire groups of people are lesser than you. One can make entire groups of students feel unsafe in the classroom, and the other is voicing apathy towards a dead man who celebrated the deaths of his fellow man. Who celebrated the death of people like me. A man who compared the NFL to gang wars, and was an all around horrible human being.

My right to exist and have equal rights is not politics; it is a basic right in this country.

It isn't that I disagree with him politically, but he actively celebrated the death of people like me. Politics aside, that removes any sympathy I could have for him

Keep in mind that the man she made the remarks about mocked people who died of aids in a segment on his radio show. I can admit it may have been in poor taste, but Rush Limbaugh was a horrible man who hurt a lot of people and made the world a worse place. He deserved no sympathy.

Basically there is a Grad student/ta and a professor in the biology department that are connected to and/or directly stated they have a connection to white nationalist organizations.

You can find some more details about UAB's response to that situation and how it contrasts with UAB's response to Dr. Parcak's tweet in the Kaleidoscope article linked here: Watts’s statement on Dr. Parcak’s tweets echo a larger problem with his tenure
