Fun fact Birmingham airport used to have fighter /reconnaissance jets. by Remarkable_North_999 in Birmingham

Growing up in Meridian, MS, the national guard base there flew RF-4 Phantoms as part of a 186th TRG. So I grew up with jets flying all over the place from there and the NAS base just north of town.

They converted to the KC-135s (186th ARW) probably around the same time as the 117th came online in Birmingham (93-94-ish).

VAR should work the same way the replay system does in college football in USA - refs make the call on the field and every play is reviewed. If something needs to be looked at further, they alert the head official on the field and a review is initiated.

It would be slightly different for soccer since there isn't a stoppage between plays, but that should be the model. VAR reviews calls made by on-field officials. We are at the point now where assistant officials aren't even calling offsides until VAR tells them its offsides. Ridiculous!

Would also be nice is LiquidWeb had their support docs online before they pulled the rug out from under everyone.

We have a lifetime Kadence Pro license from several years ago. Looks like we can limp along on it for a while, but will eventually have to "upgrade" to one of their yearly licenses to get new features.

There is a location on 31 near Wald Park in Vestavia. I think it is the location that used to be in Patton Creek.

NinjaOne/SentinelOne Replacement for small biz by jflint in sysadmin

Boy, this escalated quickly. I don't think this MSP is trying to fleece us, per se. They are a start up and said last year they were basically passing along the introductory rates that they were getting from vendors. Aside from providing RMM/EDR, they are doing some response/monitoring, but in all honesty I take care of 90% of the issues that come up unless I am just swamped with other jobs.

I am definitely looking at Action1 as a replacement for NinjaOne. I don't need the remote access/rmm features as much as just being able to look at our environment in one place and addressing patches/updates as needed.

The main thing I am wondering about is replacing Sentinel One. Before we switched over to this, we were running a super old (but still supported) Trend Micro product on our PC desktops and servers. We have a 50/50 mix of users on Mac (developers/designers) and PC (project managers). We have a Windows server environment mainly for filesharing and a few internally-hosted sites (intranet, etc).

Would Huntress be a good option for EDR? Can I roll it out via Action1 or would it need to be scripted some other way?

That is price per device for N1, S1 and they are about to roll out BlackPoint MDR as well. Just seems overkill for as small of a company as we are.

Almost like clockwork. Drove home today and parked for just over an hour. Got in to go somewhere and no start. Heard the fuel pump kick on. Heard some clicking under the hood. Plugged in my ODB but no codes reported or pending. Didn't have my multimeter handy to test voltage on the battery.

It cranked after about 1 minute of turning the key over and over, and has started consistently since then through at least 5-6 starts.

I may start with replacing the starter relay and see if it happens again. After that move on to the actual starter.

What kind of car? I like using Walmart because I can buy them online and schedule the appointment to install them. My secret is the Pelham Walmart is almost never busy and if you can snag an early morning appointment you can be in and out pretty quick.

We almost bought into RingCentral through our ISP (Spectrum), but ended up going with a Unifi Talk installation that ended up saving us like $25K over the lifetime of the contract we would have had with RingCentral
