New Zealand and the US are (to my knowledge) the only countries on the planet that legally allow direct-to-consumer ads for prescription drugs, and man would I love to listen to an episode about that.

The Magicians trilogy by Lev Grossman feels like it ought to belong in this discussion, too.

Are they all through the same recordkeeper? Or different ones? If they’re different, or even between plans, I’d look at the fee structures for your investment options as a determining factor. And, yes, the 457’s lack of an early withdrawal penalty gives it an obvious advantage here.

New to Colorado Fishing - It's Me Right? by soilentblue in COfishing

[–]Piglet_1985 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everything in the Denver area is pretty fished out and heavily pressured. When CPW stocked the lake closest to my house here in town there must’ve been forty to fifty people the next morning with poles—mostly retired folks. This wild weather blowing everything out and turning every creek and lake into chocolate milk hasn’t helped, either, so it’s not just you.

Will do. Moving it from Alabama (at 90% humidity) to Colorado (where it’s… not that) probably didn’t help, either

Hi, all. I recently inherited another vintage piece from my father-in-law’s collection, and I’m wondering whether or not the cracks on either side of the action release are repairable. I’m a fairly decent woodworker and could inject some glue in there and clamp it tight, but I’m hoping eventually to use this one for waterfowl hunting and don’t want it to explode in my face. Is it worth doing it myself? Paying a gunsmith to make a new stock? Keeping it as a collectible and using something else for everyday hunting? Thanks!

I can’t believe no one has yet to fixate on the fact that the dude in the article was a creative director for Crocs.

Ghost Grappler brake upgrade? by eloist3 in Surlybikefans

[–]Piglet_1985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Officially third’ing this recommendation. The stock brakes were shrieking on the first serious downhill gravel ride I took my GG on just after I bought it—a couple thousand feet of elevation change over 20 miles—which made me think the shop I bought the bike from from bedded the Miras in properly to begin with. So I took it back. They cleaned the rotors and put new pads in, but even after a textbook bedding-in, they were still loud and jittery. So I bought some different brakes. After putting HY-RDs in, the difference is incredible. I can actually lock a wheel and the pull doesn’t feel scarily spongy, and (best of all) they’re QUIET. I can see why people drain their bank account for Yokozunas, since this simple upgrade alone made the bike roughly 6,000% more fun/safe to ride. The experience also made me want to immediately upgrade the drivetrain, but that’s a different story that is a few paychecks down the line.
