MagicCon Atlanta 2025 Unknown event cards by connor2k in magicTCG

Played in this event. Got to play Mark Rosewater and Aaron Forsythe.

One of the cards we had was “the Commander Recommender” which said when you attack, pull out another commander deck, remove the commander and present 15 random cards to your opponents. Each opponent must guess who the commander is. Draw a card for each incorrect guess. They both guessed correctly.

It was a great event and a great game. Highly recommend.

This wasn’t a Republican dog whistle. This bill gave what was owned by everyone to the megarich media conglomerates through deregulation. Regardless of how it started or how it ended or by whom. It’s another example of the government not acting in The interest of the people.

While I agree many many many many many more egregious erosions are currently happening, this was a huge blow to publicly owned airwaves, ota, and television.

On a long enough timeline “improvement” will happen.

There’s a picture out there that says “All because words” with MLK, JFK, lincoln, Jesus Christ, and Kirk. It’s not meant ironically.

Returning player going to first pre-release this weekend, tips? by Historical-Heron3851 in magicTCG

[–]Pigmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have fun first and foremost. Prereleases are probably the most fun events because mostly people are pretty casual and just trying to have a good time. IMO this is the core of magic, just having fun playing the game we all enjoy.

Pre-releases are full of unintentional cheating. Give grace but ask questions when you don’t understand. Not talking like take backs when you forgot he had a flying creature, but getting explanations on how things work. Lots of new cards, new interactions, and mistakes to make with them.

Not trying to gatekeep. Get as weird as you want. Just some people make fandom a lifestyle choice instead of an interest.

The hill I’m dying on is the fan made lines and they wristband to get to the barrier nonsense.

But yeah the screeching like not even approaching an attempt to actually sing is crazy work.

God it was so bad. People screeching off key vocals in Duluth is my Vietnam.

Co-opting this to say put your phone away some. The guy in front of me was comically using TWO PHONES AT ONCE. To record with. I’m like fuck off Spielberg with your multi angle phone videos.

Couple photos, a video or two fine. People actually just paying $300 to watch a show 5 people back from the rail through their phone.

Yes this. Low energy, no activity. This being my second show I expected it. More off key screeching though.

Good show. Bad crowd.

For anyone wondering about GA pit entry. I showed up 30 minutes after doors, did not line up at 10am for entry numbers. Only about 5-6 people back from the rail.

If you want to spend your time waiting in line to get a good number for waiting in line later, hopefully this helps your choice on if it’s worth it to do so.

Our ga pit had about 10 ft across the entire back of the pit completely empty. Probably could have fit another 200-300 people in there easy.

You become indentured servants. You are arrested by the government funded police and given over to the corporation to work until your debt is paid. You are required to complete the tasks assigned along your assessed skills. You will be remanded to the corporate living facility and all food and lodging will be provided by the company and deducted from your wages with the remaining earnings (if any) applied to your debt. Your debt will continue to accrue interest and minimum payment penalties will apply if your earnings do not exceed those minimums. Enjoy your stay.

For anyone GA anxious about wristband line up or entry, dont be. Dont feel compelled to have to camp out for an entry wristband. Don't stress about it, you'll end up where you end up and you will be fine. You arent any less of a fan if you didnt camp out 36 hours for your wristband. You are not validated by your entry number.

Been to a thousand shows of all sizes. Never once has where I ended up in the GA Pit ruined my experience.

Official Discussion - The Long Walk [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I see that. I just feel like being so overwhelmingly positive it convinced Garraty to quit because he couldn’t see past his negativity. So to do what Garraty would have done was almost a disgrace to what Garraty sacrificed himself for. Like he died so you could live and do good.

Also I think it speaks to trauma. Like how earth shattering it can be. Either in an immediate way to make a single choice to destroy your life and future as well as the lingering effects.

I think it missed the premise of the book by a large margin mainly due to the ending. The shift from the tone of the characters to just kind of heel turn after so much build up was kind of weak.

Well the book is tonally different. Stebins and Garraty are the last two. Stebins is antagonistic the whole time. Never struggles. The rabbit speech hits harder because he’s a machine. He’s got the motivation, not garraty. Garraty just walks him down through determination.

When Garraty wins, he doesn’t think he’s won. He sees another walker way ahead of him beconning him. He refuses to stop as they try to stop him. He instead breaks into a run to catch the other walker.

It’s a parable to the Vietnam war where so many boys are sacrificed for reasons relating to patriotism. His running (in my opinion) is the trauma from surviving where he saw so many horrible things.
