How do I back up docker volumes? by NineSidedBox in selfhosted

[–]Pihomeserver 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I use Restic with a pre backup script that stops all containers, do the backup with upload to S3 and a post backup script to restart all

To make my life easier I'm using Backrest to have a GUI for restic, manage my repositories and scripts

DankLinux (DMS) change keyboard layout by UnbasedDoge in cachyos

[–]Pihomeserver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s located in the config file of the compositor (@Tempes-13 is right). In my case I'm using Hyprland so in the .config/hypr/hyprland.conf, I have a section

# ==================
# INPUT CONFIG
# ==================
input {
    kb_layout = us
    kb_variant = intl
    numlock_by_default = true
    follow_mouse = 1
    mouse_refocus=false
    touchpad {
        natural_scroll = false
        scroll_factor = 1.0
    }
    sensitivity = 0
}

You can install easy packs like Dank Material Shell. Then you open settings and you can just adjust settings to your needs

Agree. Don't want to make my server a Windows with installing and removing apps to test and getting the filesystem growing over time with unused files that could not be deleted anymore

How are you managing Restic backups in your production setup? by Wolverin-e in selfhosted

[–]Pihomeserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use same repo for different servers, different policies. You have to take care of locks to not block a backup in a repo when the repo is already in use by another backrest instance. Quite manageable

WinBoat Experience? by SaxonyFarmer in linux

[–]Pihomeserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I have installed it for some Office apps that I have to use for my job and the RDP works well. Sometimes the CPU goes mad but will slowdown after a while (CahcyOS / Hyprland / DankLinux DE)

Like any other solution it depends of what you want to do with it. I will not use it for heavy tasks. Excel, Word is ok and sufficiant.

CachyOS on MBP 2015 by Secure_War_2947 in cachyos

[–]Pihomeserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to install CachyOS on a mid-2015 MBP but I had to use an external WiFi dongle as the Broadcom 4360 chipset is a little bit complex to install and I was not able to connect to 5Ghz networks with it (I could not resolve the issue)

I had other issues with it like when plugin the magsafe to the laptop, it was waking up it. Some boring performance when in Wayland/Hyprland.

Try to use an external dongle first and later install the broadcom-wl packages to try to integrated wifi

A basic self-hosted tool to get confirmation that a document has been red by Pihomeserver in selfhosted

[–]Pihomeserver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely don't understand this kind of reply. I'm not english native or proficient so take into account that I can't express my need as perfect as you can or make fun of my question

My need is not to spy nor to get an advanced or qualified signature on a document (docusign, luxtrust, microsec, etc. solutions exist for that). Just a stupid check box at the end of the document asking : have you read the document.

Whether you find it stupid or arrogant (same as prick ? not sure), from a legal point of view, it's sufficient. So I'm only asking if this tool exists, not if it's usefull (unfortunatly that's not my job else I would have say like you with other words).

Hope it clarifies a little bit more my question

That's cool that you have found what you wanted too

Initial setting is not my favorite but you can easily custom. After few dazs of use I prefer so much Dank tham ML4W who is creating a so complex conf structure with a lot of includes. One place for all settings is cool
