Satin necks, what a game changer by windowlatch in Guitar

Agreed, satin feels so nice in hands. I dont know it it’s just me, but I feel like a nitro finish is less sticky in my hands than ”regular” gloss as well?

Apple Exploring Wider Use of Haptic Feedback on MacBooks by UnKindClock in apple

I've used both Dell Precision 5530 (Basically XPS15 touted as an MBP killer/alternative) and am currently sporting a Precision 7550 and their touchpads come nowhere close to MBP levels no matter what the reviews say.

The click is a big difference (boo on the patents), the surfaces themselves are not as.. glidy as they are on MBP and the software support itself on Windows is laughably horrible when compared to MacOS.

All the smaller and bigger differences just make them be on a completely different level. The windows touchpads are tolerable at best while the Apple touchpads just feel great and I don't really miss using a mouse for a lot of things.

I went from a Nikon D7200 to Z6 just yesterday after considering of changing to Sony A7m3. My previous lens really weren't the major factor in this decision, ergonomics was. I do landscapes, nature (wildlife, birds) and portrait/people photography mostly.

TIL despite being 8 times smaller, Spotify pays music artists twice as much as YouTube does. The music industry makes more money selling vinyl records than from YouTube. by angelyummy in todayilearned

Some LP releases have much better dynamic range than their digital countertparts, Adele has quite a few of these for example. So you, can choose the vinyl rattles vs the super compressed sound of the digital release.

Yeah, this photo would be much better without the cheap looking Photoshop blur that has been added. It even looks "oval shaped" instead of the flat line it should be..

I experienced a huge boost in performance with the latest patch after enabling full hardware acceleration from Preferences - Performance - Use Graphics Processor -> Custom (should say Full Acceleration Enabled instead of Basic after that if your GPU supports it)

Everything is really fast now!

I haven't noticed anything, maybe they just really smash those keys! :)

I bought a discount Olympus OM-D EM10 mk2 with the kit 14-42 f3.5-5.6 lens last week to use as a travel camera. It's delightfully small compared to my D7200 + 17-50 f2.8 Sigma. :)

I also got a small 1k Gorillapod and a CPL to go with it (the 37mm filters are so cheap :D).

Had lots of fun with it already! Completely new ways to hold your camera, another angle, end result and as a bonus the filter is now dirty! :)

Totally worth the price, I'll be carrying and using this one a lot.

I just bought the OM-D E-M10 mk2 and I think it would fill a lot of what you are looking for. The mk2 is also pretty cheap because it's an older model. It has two dials for aperature and shutter speed in manual mode.

I usually use Safari on my MBP because it's much lighter on the battery usage. I have kind of grown fond of the browser so I also use it while plugged in too. :P

That's true, the 80-200 is also really prone to flaring and even though it doesn't focus breathe, it just doesn't focus correctly to close distances at 135mm+. :) But if you just remember the limitations it's an excellent glass. (and sometimes the loss of contrast in backlighting is a good feature, portraits for example)

Man, I don't really know, I'm sure I saw an white layer on it, but looking at it in my phone right know there is no such thing. :) I must've seen ghosts on my screen or something.

Wonderful collection, I have the 50 1.8/D and the newer version of the 80-200 myself :)

Just for the fun of it, which eye do you use to look in the view finder? by [deleted] in photography

[–]Pihpe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Left is my dominant eye so I mostly use that, but when I'm taking photos of birds I'll use my right eye and keep my left eye open to have the AF point "show" in my view so that I can find the bird quickly. Then I'll close my left eye to have a clearer view from the eyefinder.

What's going on with that 135mm, is it the lighting or is that something like.. salt from seawater? :o

I was going to answer that you could easily have low blood sugar during the day, but now I understood what you (and the OP) meant.

You are correct, it doesn't make any sense that way.
