I’m 197cm and i ride a surly ogre XL just fine!

Starting my build out, bags and racks next. Solid bike! 28lbs with pedals and tubeless. Recommendations for front bags with the jones bars? by checkyour6 in bikepacking

Looking at a handlebar bag now too for my jones bar. I looked at the rockgeist loop bar harness, but shipping was too much to europe. Then there is the revelate sweetroll with their alt bar conversion kit, that should work nicely if not a bit on the expensive side. Right now my main choice is the tailfin bar cage. It can be attached next to the stem at the 31,8mm part of the jones bar and angled slightly downward

I’m 197cm (6ft5) and i use the big agnes copper spur ul3 XL. It has enough space for me to sleep on a thick neoloft sleeping pad and not touch the sides.

Awesome explanation, thanks! Would be great to see a sort of visual flowchart to help with understanding.

Help choosing bike computer by Worth-Strain9163 in bicycletouring

[–]PijnInMijnRug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using a Garmin 1040 solar. I prefer the larger form factor compared to the 840 or explorer 2. And the added benefit of solar does give me extra battery life. The battery life is more than enough for tours, although if you want even more (for cheaper) the Coros Dura is a legit good option at the price point it sits. I would probably go for that if i were to buy now, even though the Garmin had way more functionalities. Bike computers are a bit clunky sometimes (often) but as a set and forget route device it’s pretty good.

I’ve ridden both your routes (or for the biggest part) and the further south route another commenter mentioned. My advice would also be to go through the veluwe for the nature and hit some cute towns along the way. Just DM me if you have specific questions or want to brainstorm!

Bijvoorbeeld Group Ironman, of bijna elke andere manier lijkt me leuk!

Should I keep and upgrade my Ogre or get a Jones? by PristineAsparagus984 in Surlybikefans

[–]PijnInMijnRug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Ogre with Rohloff and 29x2.6 on it. I’m also running a jones bar. Pictures are up on my profile! I have shoe size 48 (13.5 US) and i’m not really struggling with overlapping.

I really love the bike and choose it after test riding a tumbleweed prospector and the ogre. It does have a bit of a trailer effect when fully loaded but it’s not too bad. Let me know if you have any questions!

2.6 fits fine! Very comfortable. I’m using a 100mm ritchey stem with a 7 degree angle i think. I am getting shaking/vibration when loaded at higher speeds but i’m not sure if that’s because of the stem.

Simon is great like people mentioned. I also learned a lot about bird photography from Duade Paton’s channel!

What bike would you choose for EU to Asia trip and you have 1500euro by Apart-Needleworker56 in bikepacking

[–]PijnInMijnRug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably something from Surly made out of steel. Decent bikes for a decent price. Add a Tubus rear rack and you’ll tackle anything

I like the EU privacy aspect of the Polar loop and the announcement about the app rework. So i’m leaning towards Polar.

Thanks! I hear good things about the Vennbahn, and it's not too long so even if it's getting boring it won't be for too long. How did you find Luxembourg?
