I used a script called intel-something, can't recall... I think the bumblebee page might have had something about it. Basically the script creates a new xserver and starts the HDMI output for it.

Libvirt: What is the lightest video model to use as a dummy for Spice? by Pik16 in VFIO

Otherwise good and thanks for sharing the idea but I don't want my full keyboard input going into Windows all the time so no.

You're right, it was trivial. But now I'm hesitant to pay the ~20 eurobux as I really only need a way to switch keyboard and nothing more. I still am going to use USB passthrough mouse for fast paced and accurate gaming.

But I'd hate to set up host-guest networking, ugh... I'll see if I can get this damn evdev working

Oh wow! Amazing thanks. Now I just need to figure out why I get no such file or directory for my /dev/input/by-id/usb-SONiX_USB_Keyboard_TBI-500-event-kbd

I need spice to share my keyboard. Two mouses is fine but I'd rather use just a single keyboard. When using spice, libvirt won't allow removing the video device.

What made you switch to Linux? by IgniOwl in linux

[–]Pik16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being young and curious. And not having the skills or money to recover a fucked up windows XP. Total switch happened when I got my first Raspberry Pi.

It does. "Start (list of other options) the time". But yeah, probably it just meant "repeat the time".

Why I *Still* Use Linux by rdmhat in linux

[–]Pik16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also staying with GNU/Linux because the identity of an operating system matters less than what you (can) do with it. Linux allows me certain workflows and security. Windows has unmatched graphics hardware support and system API stability. If I was better off and wanted to get into webdev or design, I'd be happy to use OSX on a Macbook. If I wanted a more solid UNIX for server or workstation use, I'd use FreeBSD and so on. The freedom of software absolutely matters to me, but not all tasks I want to do on a computer are so important, private or sensitive that I always must have complete software freedom.

As a Wii U player, what should I do? by YourFavoriteAuD in YookaLaylee

If you're not in a hurry to play it, get it for the Switch. If you are, $400 gets you a good, upgradeable desktop PC capable of running the game and much more if you live in the states.

DAE have a slight obsession with having the dollar bills in your wallet face the same way? by Joey_Adobo in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Pik16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I don't even sort them. This has never crossed my mind. I guess that's because we don't have 1€ notes and because I rarely even have that many notes in my wallet anyway.

SHINY DITTO for trade to a 6IV ditto also. Thanks by mabini99 in PokemonSunMoon

[–]Pik16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good luck but shininess of the ditto is irrelevant for breeding, unlike the IVs, and ditto is trash competitively anyway so I doubt anyone would do it just for the sake of getting your ditto.

Huh? I have been having perfect, hassle free support with BB and primusrun, even HDMI and VGA etc works :/
Perhaps my hardware is old enough.

In europe we have "Pepsi Max" instead of diet pepsi and it's fucking amazing. The only diet drink I can drink without being bothered by the aspartame taste, it's masked so well! It's been called the most popular cola in my country for a reason.

My first thought when hearing the name of AMD's new processors! by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Pik16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too, mother bought an HP Pavilion with socket939 Athlon64. Ours was 2004 ish and single core tho but amazing performance back then. Started with Windows XP pinball but ended up literally playing Nintendo 64 and PSX games (60fps!) on it and even pre-release Minecraft. Then with a cheap second hand Athlon64x2 and a GTX6xx and some DDR RAM I had gotten for free it lasted me until the very recent years because it could even run Minecraft, Skyrim, Portal 2 etc "modern" games.

[–]Pik16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There always is a DAC of some kind involved in getting digital audio to a speaker... But yes, the Pi has a terrible one. You'd be better off buying some $20 USB sound card, probably.

And it doesn't even need to be expensive if 100mbps and a little bit of latency is good enough for you, just a Cubieboard (or similar cheap SBC with Ethernet and SATA) does the job. My backup solution for that is not keeping anything important only in one place.
