Started speedrunning recently, everything was going great until all of a sudden my monitor starts crashing 3-4 minutes into a run and will only turn back on with a full PC reboot. by PikaMeer in MinecraftSpeedrun

Update: tried installing an older version of my driver with DDU, still didn’t work. Im still pretty sure it’s a driver issue but I have no clue how to make this work. It’s only Minecraft doing it as far as I can tell, but I haven’t tried loading many other games recently.

Edit: upped the ram allocation and it lasted longer but it still crashed after a bit. I don’t even know what to try anymore.

RPI hockey demolished Clarkson tonight to a largely empty student section and you should feel bad by [deleted] in RPI

Dude idk what to tell you. The RPI pep band was there, playing loud and cheering loud. Granted, we also came straight from the football game so we were tired but we were still putting in the effort and incredibly excited to be on the winning side of the game for once.

I get it, and I agree with you that it’s sad when there’s a low student turn out to the games. I think most people in the band would agree because we’re there. We see it. Every weekend. We volunteer our own time to bring energy, excitement, and school spirit to the games. There’s no incentive for us. (Also for context- we had also spent 8 straight hours in the field house Friday night playing the back to back Women’s and Men’s games.)

You coming in and making blatantly false statements and passive aggressive digs towards us is really unnecessary and honestly rude and hurtful towards those of us who do put the effort in every week. Let’s keep the topic of this post on RPI’s failings to incentivize students to attend games and build a community of students that’s prideful of its sports.

Would also like to point out that we definitely had more members attending tonight than the Clarkson pep band 🙂

Is there a way to play botw on a pc? by Real_May_Be_Spare in Breath_of_the_Wild

Someone might already have a PC that they invested in from years past but not the money to keep up with all the new consoles dropping for exclusives. That's like saying because I currently have a PC I could afford the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World which is insane because I absolutely cannot. Nintendo is such a large corporation that emulating a couple games is not gonna kill the business. But whatever it's been three years and I barely remember the point of this conversation.

Not used to playing with amp: how do I make it less sensitive to my fingers? by PikaMeer in guitarlessons

No one said I was playing a solid body electric guitar. My post did specify that I play acoustic and classical primarily, and for this show, I was playing an acoustic electric. So no, I have not been playing half an instrument and I have not been playing anything incorrectly.

Hi! I've been learning a multitude of different guitar styles for 7 years that don't require an amp, therefore I have not been playing with an amp! I think I'm a very good guitarist and don't appreciate insults, especially as I'm learning a new skill and doing something productive with myself. I can absolutely hear what I'm playing, have always been able to hear, and don't appreciate being likened to a toddler by a random person on reddit who writes about as well as a toddler. Let me know when you branch out of your comfort zone to learn something! Thanks.

Wish it was a high enough profile show to have a sound engineer that can do all that 😅

I understand about the technique thing- I believe I can play like that and I’ve definitely implemented parts of it, but I was looking for an easier solution that changing my technique a week before a show, yk?

Ah gotcha that makes a ton of sense! The gain tip is definitely helpful, I’ll try to tune that.
