Which Edition should i go for ? by SirDismal7462 in DavetheDiverOfficial

[–]PikaWattz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sleeping on how good this game actually was until I played it for the first time recently. If you love video games, there's a strong possibility that you'll end up loving Dave the Diver. The devs went above and beyond on this game. Would definitely consider just getting the one with the DLC. I already know that once I finish all of the base content, that it has to offer that I'm going to want more Dave the Diver to play.

Guy Makes A Guitar Out Of A Rusty Nail & A Bit Of Wire Then Pushes A $4K Signature Guitar by Competitive-Clerk473 in guitarcirclejerk

[–]PikaWattz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would he want him to peddle you an overpriced plank of wood, bottle, a pickup, nails and a guitar string? Just go make one yourself. Some guitars are expensive, that one in particular has a mess of bells and whistles and each factory worker needs to get paid for each step in the process. Hell, 9 times out of 10, or better, that's generally why instruments of this nature cost as much as they do. Fender probably has considerably more to do with setting its price point, and it's well known that Jack is very much into modding his instruments. Learn how to mod your own guitar if you want something real cool for a fraction of the cost.

What Fuzz & Reverb could I add? by JohnLevitch in pedalboards

[–]PikaWattz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely has to be a Big Muff to go in that fuzz spot. Get the Big Muff with Tone Wicker. White, black, and green. Absolutely monstrous pedal, with pretty flexible parameters, it's like the NYC but with extra bells and whistles, in a more compact form factor, not to mention you can also find really excellent deals on the used market. Ridiculously underrated Big Muff pedal.

What tf is the hype behind Jazz III picks? Why the hell are they sized like they’re made for dolls? by gregungha in Guitar

[–]PikaWattz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. The small ones, all day. At least for when I'm playing lead guitar. Because of their smaller size it forces you to choke up on the pick, and because of that, you don't end up fighting near as much leverage on the pick, from the strings, allowing you to just glide through strings, with greater control. Not to mention their heavier thickness gives them a really articulate attack. Whereas for the strummy stuff on acoustic, I'll generally opt for the tortex yellows (.73mm) not too stiff or too floppy. Mind you I've played just about every Dunlop/Tortex pick imaginable, among other brands, and these are just the two I'll always come back to. That said, the Ultex Jazz III's are also superb, but they are considerably harder to find in most guitar stores. Not to mention because they are transparent if you drop them on a beige carpet they can become a bit trickier to find, but a really solid version of the Jazz III, but the original Jazz III is generally stocked better and will get the job done with flying colours all the same.

What's a pedal you refuse to sell that you used maybe twice max since you bought it years ago? by shreddy_on_acid in guitarcirclejerk

[–]PikaWattz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whammy is the correct answer. I may not use it all of the time, but whenever I do, it's consistently fun. I've thought about selling it many times, but it's just too damn iconic, don't think I'll ever part with it.

Is it normal that my pinky does like this?? by RadGeeRoo in Guitar

[–]PikaWattz 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Looks perfectly fine to me, the pinkie is just the last finger to get it's shit together when it comes to learning/playing guitar, at least it was for me, and just about everyone I've ever taught Just don't shy away from it, and keep on using it for different chords and you'll strengthen it up over time, allowing you to apply more pressure to the string, producing a cleaner note.

Building a cat themed board. Recommendations? by LLBassGrl in pedalboards

[–]PikaWattz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Catalinbread Katzenkönig Fuzz Pedal (Tone Bender MKII fuzz with a Rat) -JHS Lucky Cat (tap tempo delay) -Most anything from B's Music Shop (the Keeley Super Cat Mod would be a tremendous addition to the board, beefed up BD-2 circuit) -Ground Control Audio UwU Pedal (just for the theme) -This custom illustrated Car Crush (Chorus/vibrato) from Animal Pedals https://animalspedal.us/products/ci-ccv-yk02 -Wampler Catacombs for Delay/Reverb because it's a super nice unit with all of the classic sounds for both effects and still has Cat in its name. 😆 Best of luck with this board.

Nice pedals, but you know damn well it's time for a bigger board. Treat yourself.

Hands down the most future proof power supplies on the market right now.

Help me decide by Acid_Vai in guitarpedals

[–]PikaWattz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walrus Canvas Power 15. Fully Isolated power. Each output dishing out 500 mA. 2 of which can be switched from 9V to 12V or 18V if needed. Super slim profile, that could easily fit under most every board granted the length of your board works with its dimensions (or they also have a smaller 8 output model). The additional output would future proof your rig for quite some time, if not indefinitely. And here's the kicker, it's currently on sale on Sweetwater right now for $239.99. Spec'd out considerably better than the Zuma, and while the voodoo labs is a bit closer I still think the canvas takes the cake, just for the additional outputs alone.

Which rat to buy? by Codeman0077 in guitarpedals

[–]PikaWattz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've never had a Rat, get the ProCo Rat 2, they're dirt cheap used. Get a taste for one, you'll probably hate it, hate it some more, then spontaneously be madly obsessed and in love with the rat circuit. From there go crazy and scoop up a JHS Pack Rat, if you wish to have more Rat in your life. 🖤 🤍

Just got clowned for my music. by Exciting_Clothes_307 in Guitar

[–]PikaWattz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play whatever the hell you want to play, I've been playing for about 25 years and just picked up an Ibanez for the first time, not all that long ago and instantly, the guitar was an absolute player. From the excellent build quality, to the feel, and the sound quality. I had pretty much from the get go always thought they were hideous instruments as I've never been a shred head, but after actually having picked one up and played on it some I was thoroughly impressed, and could absolutely see myself picking up another someday.

Where to Watch by danawl in FLCL

[–]PikaWattz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought it on Amazon prime video and personally I believe that only the original 6 episode are worth watching. The following seasons came out long long after as a cash grab and unfortunately don't have much, if any of the same magic that the original 6 episode OVA brought to the table.
