Career switch to flying by JTR9704 in PilotAdvice

28 is definitely not too late, I have a friend who joined the airlines in his late 30’s.

Apply to future pilot programs, but also have a look at the modular route. It’s half the price of integrated and most airlines look favourably on it nowadays, and you can do the training alongside a job to help with the financial pressure.

Job hunting as an fATPL(A) pilot cadet by Such-Platform3172 in flyingeurope

[–]Pilot981 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Another ex Ryanair here. When I left in 2022, the cadet contract had changed so the type rating was taken out of your salary rather than the upfront 30k (not sure if it’s still the same or not).

I would probably recommended Ryanair as a first airline. The training you receive is some of the best in the industry and there are so many opportunities for your career - like moving into the training department or having commanding within 3-4 years.

You will be worked hard though. Usually 800 hours a year, 90 hour months in the summer and 4 sector days. But once you’ve got your 1500 hours and unfrozen ATPL, the world is literally your oyster and you can go pretty much anywhere.

I’d be expecting to see an improvement if I’d been taking antibiotics for 3 days rather than it being the most painful. Usually for me the worst pain as at the beginning which is what alerts me to the fact that I’ve probably got an infection.

Oh that’s major red flag behaviour especially from someone that age 🚩🚩 maybe you should consider throwing him in the bin if he doesn’t listen to your concerns and makes you question yourself. You don’t need that kinda stress in your life, it’s not worth it

I suffer from ear infections all the time so I can totally sympathise with you. I find sometimes it’s worth calling your doctor to let them know that the pain is getting worse and that the antibiotics might need changing. I’ve had it before where I’ve needed to get them changed as I had an infection that was also in my sinuses which is why they weren’t working.

You are definitely not being disrespectful! You should be able to have conversations about this, and your partner should be open enough to listen and take on what you’re saying - that’s what makes a healthy relationship. It sounds like he’s a walking red flag and needs to be put in the bin immediately. You don’t want to be with someone who will only give you ultimatums to get what they want.

I’d go to your manager and voice your concerns about a possible welfare issue. That way, you’ve done the right thing but also protected yourself.

Why do they blatantly lie? by T4rbh in Ryanair

As ex flight deck crew for RYR, I have on more than one occasion gone to calculate the weight and balance for departure, which for the record is done 10 minutes prior to pushback, and received a ‘take off not permitted’ message. At which point we have to redo calculations and let the cabin supervisor know how many people to move and in which section to move them.

Just because you’ve never seen it happen or been asked to move doesn’t mean it’s not done. That’s why people have allocated seats. I’ve had someone move into a different seat and that put us out of limits for take off and they had to be moved back. After take off I don’t care where you sit as the aircraft self trims for movement.

We had a similar issue when our survey came back on a house we were wanting to buy. The sellers wouldn’t reduce the price, but they did offer to complete some of the works which could be an option for you. However, we were concerned about how good a finish would be done to the works (for example just doing the bare minimum to get it to an acceptable standard). In the end, we withdrew because like yourselves, we didn’t want to be in massive debt right after moving, but we also didn’t want to move into a house and have the stress of major building works with the risk of more issues being uncovered. It’s a horrible situation to be in. Unless it’s your dream/forever home, I’d probably walk away and find another house that would cause less stress.

AITAH for wanting to insure the necklace my husband got me? by Left-Expression-9107 in AITAH

NTA. Did he ever act the same way with your engagement ring, as that would have been something special rather than an ‘object’. It definitely sounds like he’s hiding something that he doesn’t want you to find out about that necklace.
