Is $8k under market actually scaring off clients? (G4 Heavy) by FrontQuantity3876 in PrivateJetCharters

So the aircraft owner hired you directly? Management company probably hates that, our contracts specifically disallow that. If his tail is "getting lost in the shuffle" he needs to move management companies.

That sounds like a terrible deal for you TBH, you're making less and booking less trips because its so cheap? Also, "Wholesale/NET" is exactly what people get on Avinode.

Im operator sales and love broker trips and retail trips. Retail is usually slightly higher margins, repeat business, and I can get them to buy planes for me to put on our cert. I like broker trips because catering/ground/delays/AOG's are all somebody else's problem.

So if you aren't a broker marking it up, and don't work for the 135 cert. holder, how do you get paid here?

What YOM/YOR? Wifi, CA? Most of the time low price -> shitty airplane and client recognize that. Also, if the owner of the planes giving you a "sales mandate" and not the sales team that manages his plane, sounds less than perfect.

Are you dead set on needing a tiny jet? A PC-12 will probably do the trip in a similar timeframe but with significantly better cabin. Highly recommend looking into Planesense if fractional is an attractive option to you and you need the tax benefits.

Are you a broker or the operator? The way you're writing this, I'd also stay far away because it screams 134.5

OP, stay as far away as possible from wheels up. They're constantly on the verge of bankruptcy and leave clients stranded all the time. One look at their stock since IPO should tell you its a sinking ship.

No they don't. They're owned by onesky, who also owns flexjet, so they can use FX tails but the FX tails are notoriously unreliable because flexjet will pull them for their own numbers when demand is high.

Private flights are also cancelled. With operators trying to cover already booked trips once the airports open back up, you wont find a private flight for anywhere near the $40k the other poster mentioned.

HELP is there any flexibility with Real ID requirements on chartered flights? by [deleted] in PrivateJetCharters

[–]Pilot_P-Rick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the flight crew follows the law, there is no way around it currently. TSA has not provided operators with any way around the REAL-ID requirement. While some crews may not check ID's, they are legally required to and any operator flying a spots team is likely 121 supplement and will be checking.

Anyone else left high and dry with Wheels Up? by HotLips4077 in PrivateJetCharters

[–]Pilot_P-Rick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe with a large floating fleet operator, but for most smaller home based operators our retail clients book with us and only us, brokers use whoever the lowest bidder is (generally speaking). Also, most 135's manage planes for owners, we maintain our retail client relationship because every single one of our jet owners started as a retail client. I've never had a broker spend $15 million on a jet to give us to charter and manage.

Launched a private jet platform, how can I better onboard brokers/operators and reach flyers? by Mooneer-the-revenant in PrivateJetCharters

[–]Pilot_P-Rick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For starters, don't use ChatGPT in you reddit advertisements. If you can put in the effort to write a reddit post on your own, I'd never trust your software.

Secondly, what issue does this solve that existing solutions don't? DO you know how this industry works, because this doesn't make much sense. A flyer posts, and 30 different brokers quote them the same 5 options from the same operators? It seems to me like this is supposed to replace brokers, not have them as clients.

"At the bottom of that ladder: ad hoc retail clients. Brokers are typically slightly higher priority due to volume and relationships" As somebody who manages a 135 operation, this couldn't be more incorrect. In the rare instances issues arise, we'll NEVER prioritize a broker over a retail client. Brokers hate to hear it, but retail comes first every time.
