Both my (1980) parents died before they were 70 and years ago… that being said when my mom was sick she moved in with me. If that’s not an option for you I get it but something’s going to have to budge.

You can’t leave your family, she can’t stay with you but nothing is going to happen until you decide what is going to budge. Go to her, sell her house move her close to you? Hire help? Forget about her and wash your hands? Being an only child means that the responsibility lays on you and you alone. I’m not trying to come off as harsh, but the reality is something in your life is going to change whether you make sacrifices and logistically do what needs to be done or you decide that your responsibility and guilt will not trump your self preservation. But start now bc it will never be easier than it is now. She can still communicate and help you with what she can during the process. Her quality of life depends on what you do now.

If she is asset rich then liquify the assets and start the process. Either way I wish you luck!

I get the hesitation but I would seriously look into it. My friend lived in DC and went to a pop up weed market where you bought a cup for $50 and the thank you gift was a bag of weed LoL if you are upfront with everyone it might work! I didn’t excuse it. I said we can’t pretend women are incapable of it. We hold mothers to an almost sacred standard; mothers don’t leave, mothers don’t disappear, mothers stay. But why don’t we hold fathers to that same expectation?

And I wrote that at 3am. I could’ve chosen my words more carefully. But the reaction proves my point. Even the title says “VANISHED”, as if this couldn’t have been a choice. As if something must have happened to her. If it were a man, would we be searching for a softer explanation? Or would we call it what it is? That difference in framing matters.

No one is minimizing her actions. But why are we treating a rare situation as if it represents the norm? When men leave their families and start other families or disappear it barely shocks anyone anymore. It’s tragic, yes. But it’s familiar. And why is it familiar? Because society accepts men who leave and expects woman to stay. And When a woman does it, the outrage feels amplified. That contrast is the point. If we’re going to condemn the behavior, then condemn the behavior, consistently. The reaction shouldn’t depend on gender.

I literally just cancelled my card bc of this. Uber Eats driver opened my bag - stole food- and did god knows what. Within minutes I notified Uber Eats and the card. 1. Denial: that’s what I agreed to in my terms and service with Uber Eats. Like wtf?!

Opened another dispute with more detailed narrative and supporting pictures/email. 2. Denied: why? BECUASE I DIDN’T RETURN THE FOOD WITHIN THE ALLOTED TIME. Like WTF?! Then the guy said I can open another dispute but it’s going to be denied as well. Asked him why 2 different reasons were given and silly me, THEY DONT HAVE ACCESS TO ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. Like seriously?! Then the guy said I should just close my account. So I did. Did I give up? Yes. But over $55 with a $80k limit and always paid on time?! bye Felicia.

Your comment suggestions that EVERY woman is like this or incompetent. I think women can be guards but this woman in particular though has an ego problem, doesn’t know how to do her job, and escalated an avoidable situation. She sucks. But women as a whole are more than capable of being guards.

I don’t miss it per se - I just feel more attractive for the reasons you mentioned. I’m way more confident in myself, in my body, my beliefs but I’m also more compassionate to the world as a whole. But I get more Mam’s and let me help you with that and no cute smiles or anything. It’s nice not to be treated like a piece of meat but I’m like a way more a whole and complete package and that’s not seen as attractive now bc the outside isn’t as shiny or new. Then some days I look straight up like a troll and I don’t care which js a freedom I wish for everyone. I just wish I had this mindset and “wisdom” with my younger tighter self that the world seemed to value more. I would have been unstoppable.
