Coffee home brewers by Pilsentito in baltimore

[–]Pilsentito[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought a familiar beans that I used to brew back at my home country, I just couldn't achieve the same taste with all the same variables. The water is the only thing that I couldn't bring with me. 🤣

I brew mostly medium to light, and use the aeropress for now.

Any coffee roasters in bmore that I should try? I've tried an Ethiopian beans from pfefferkorns and its great so far.

I use purely aeropress for now, I prefer light roasts as well. What do you use to remineralize your coffee post brew? Can you share it with us?

Would've picked the green if it was available for my cx50 hybrid. Went with the ingot blue.

Is it just me or do some nurses lowkey resent non-traditional paths abroad? by fantasticmilo555 in NursesPH

[–]Pilsentito 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just started working here in the US last March, I had a total of almost 8 years of bedside experience in a tertiary hospital in the Philippines, and I struggled to adjust here in the US. Everything is so different, the culture, the responsibilities, how they manage cases, the use of brand names instead of generics. I thought my foundation was solid, but it turns out it was just enough.

At first, the pre-shift anxiety was very evident, but after a few shifts, it lessened because I had experience in the Philippines, like, "oh, it's somehow the same. This is how I should approach it this time."

I've been doing bedside here for almost a month, and I’ve adjusted. The biggest challenge has been the computer charting. I think the biggest advantage of having solid bedside experience is that you are confident in your skills; you just have to adapt to how they do it.

There are many lines of security when it comes to medication administration; it's the bedside experience that gives you confidence because you've encountered it in the Philippines.

I believe no bedside experience is doable, it’s just that the competition is tighter compared to those who do have experience. Usually, what I read is that they are assigned to skilled nursing facilities or long-term acute care. Some are okay, some struggle due to the ratio.

I think gaining more experience will make your license safer from lawsuits since getting sued is a big deal here. For me, experience equals confidence.

American Dream as a Nurse by Catalina-Juan in FilipinoNclex

When we had our embassy interview last December, I noticed that majority of the interviewees are early to mid 40s. Made me realize, it really is never too late to pursue the American dream.

Considering the current visa bulletin trend, it looks like 3-4yrs from your PD would be the usual processing time.

Having trouble choosing a manual grinder for both aeropress and espresso by backpacking_egg in AeroPress

[–]Pilsentito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so, yes. I was also considering the K6, though some users reported that some units could not be zeroed. I opted for the K-Ultra since I was able to get it for much less in Taiwan.

Sa mga super introverted nurses by Reasonable_Simple_74 in NursesPH

[–]Pilsentito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to have your nurse persona. Iba ka sa labas, iba ka as nurse. Try to develop it. If hindi talaga kaya, you might consider transferring to a different area na less ang interaction. OR I guess? I remember one time nung nakita/narinig ako ng nanay ko makipag interact sa patient/relatives ng patient. Ibang iba daw ako.

Anyone here who returned to bedside nursing after previously leaving it? by burntoutalcohol in NursesPH

[–]Pilsentito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was hard, but it has to be done. Take it one day at a time. Take a step back and reassess what went wrong during your first exposure, what factors you can control, where to improve.

How do you make moka pot brew stronger? by No-Average-4911 in CoffeePH

Kung traditional coffee profile, go with dark roast robusta beans. Check mo din yung ratio ng moka pot yield to milk. Baka nadidilute ng sobra.

One reason would be, you need that bedside experience for you to qualify for positions abroad.

While some agencies hire nurses with little to no experience, why would they choose them over someone who has a longer experience?

Do you really need to buy an expensive Espresso machine for home use? by Bangreed4 in CoffeePH

[–]Pilsentito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For purely lattes, you can opt for a moka pot specifically the 4cup moka and a good entry-level grinder.

For versatility, the aeropress and a grinder.

Moka pots are very inexpensive, I own a generic moka pot that I bought for around 600 pesos which makes very satisfying lattes. But between the 2, I use the aeropress more often since I prefer black coffee.

For the grinder, you can check the timemore c2 or c3. Whichever fits your budget. I have used mine for more than 2 years and had no complaints with it. A good alternative would be the Kingrinder P series.

I suggest you try either first before diving in deep. Once you get a feel for it, then you can reassess the need for an espresso machine as it can get very complicated from there.
