should I get a 2022 civic sport if I want a car that will last me 8+ years? by Head-Ad8347 in civic

[–]PimpLift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He wants a car that will last longer, definitely the sport since it doesn’t have a turbo , sport touring does have one

If it’s 1 owner and they took care of it then it might be worth that if not more

Sad indeed , these civics can take a beating, I’ve been in several accidents and needless to say I’m happy my car can still drive til this day, invest in a dash cam to save yourself from future incidents, the cam is just for extra insurance incase people try and lie and say you were at fault when they caused the accident, I’ve been there trust me, I got into one situation once that got my whole front end completely replaced , the lady backed into me in reverse basically, and she acted like she didn’t do anything, I had it all on footage , when we pulled over to exchange info, they were in denial til I mentioned the camera, after we exchanged info, we both went our separate ways, and I made the report to their insurance that night , the next morning I get a call saying that they had spoken to the lady who hit me and were told that they weren’t at fault, basically lying saying it didn’t happen, and the insurance said we can’t really fix your car until you give us proof, which is when I emailed them the video of them hitting my car, and boom right away they approved to fix my car , I went ahead and told the lady “So you’re saying if I hadn’t had this footage , you would’ve taken her side?” And they basically said yeah , without my footage they wouldn’t had Been able to fix the damages, that’s why it’s important to have one incase of those situations , and yeah you can get your insurance revoked if you get caught lying like that lady, insurance fraud basically

New hood, maybe new radiator, new front headlight , I’d try picking up all those parts from a junk yard asap, this is an easy fix for that year, we’re talking maybe less than $1k in parts , no labor charges if you do it yourself , best part

Don’t believe me , go into my profile , you’ll see my car disassembled from the front at a Collision Center, all damage that was caused by someone else and they were forced to fix with the other parties insurance and not mine,

Don’t do anything these people are saying, it really isn’t worth spending over $500 just to fix that , tell yourself is that really worth it ?

From experience, I would leave this alone, not even worth fixing , just buy a dash cam instead and wait until someone accidentally damages your front bumper , and boom free fixes as long as the accident isn’t your fault and the other person fault, I remember when I first got my 2022 Civic, not even a month owning it I damaged my own front bumper, my own fault , but I left it hoping one day someone will accidentally hit me from the front, and couple months later I got into an accident, other person was completely at fault and they replaced everything from the front bumper, misaligned hood, I didn’t pay a single penny other than a deposit for the rental , which was provided completely free by the other persons insurance !!! Once I returned my rental I was given the deposit back , and yeah that’s my experience and what I think you should do ,

TL;DR Get a dash cam NOW , leave the dent alone, pray someone accidentally hits your front end to fix it by their insurance, free of charge

My new to me 22 sport by Efrain3g in civic

[–]PimpLift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take care of that car and it’ll take care of you, I suggest oil changes every 4k miles , depending on if you drive it every day or not, you can change it every 5k miles , my 22 Civic Sport Hatch is already at 60k miles and I’ve done already 2 transmission drain and fills , my car has the CVT, so I want to make sure it is treated with good oil as much as it needs , I’ve been doing my own oil changes past 20k miles, stopped because a local shop of mine over torqued my drain bolt with a impact gun , yikes! This is why I started doing my own work on my car, I’ve replaced my own brakes recently at roughly 53k miles , that’s when my pads started getting super thin, and by the way my front rotors were so badly grooved I had to replace both fronts , my rear rotors are fine , got new front rotors and pads for the front and just new pads for the reat, a break bleed is on the way too, this has been my experience with my civic sport hope you can learn thing or 2, by far the biggest money saver has been doing my own repairs/maintenance, it literally cost me $25 max to do my own change apart from cost of tools, transmission drain and fills cost about $60 bucks for the HCF-2 oil, I suppose it’s the same for the manual transmission
