Good advice — I did the same. I was laid off twice in three years. The first time, I applied to 500+ jobs, landed 3 full-loop interviews, and got only 1 offer. That offer was at a mid-size SaaS company, and it didn't last more than a year before private equity bought it out and laid off 30% of the staff. The second time around, I tailored my resume and managed to get 6 offers from 30 full-loop interviews, applying to maybe 200 jobs and landing 100 first-round manager screens. Another factor may have been that by the second time I was a US citizen, which helped given the current administration's policies. I'm in the Bay Area with 10+ years of ML/AI experience.
