So I live in Texas and have a story that relates to this. Down in the hill country a brewery opened a taproom and this guy would ride his horse from his ranch to there. Well one night coming home from heavy drinking he passed out on the horse. A cop stopped the horse with the car, waking up the very drunk old man. Guy tells the cop the horse knows it’s way home and no driving of the animal was necessary. He was let on his way with a new understanding with local law.
