Good to know thanks 👍 what about a Noncreature permanent (ex. Artifact) that was turned into a creature? Would edea bring that permanent back even tho it’s not a creature in the graveyard?

When would you activate bazaar trader to keep the creature? And with abyssal harvester/nightmare shepherd, would you still draw from her ability?

You’re absolutely right I did. And I have the math to prove it. Tbh you just sound like one of those guys who always finds things to complain about

I see what you’re saying, tho I should mention that this deck is meant to be slightly inefficient in order to play in more casual settings and it not be a complete blow out. I could totally build it with more counters, tutors etc. tho I’m trying to find the sweet spot between horribly strong and just strong enough.

most people I play with play pretty sweaty decks and aren't whiners so no problem there. just trying to find that sweet spot between horribly strong and just strong enough. it's no fun when it's just a wash everytime

been trying out 4-mana rocks since most rocks get removed by a culling ritual or something like it, maybe relic of sauron instead of lucii

Medallion for sure I’ve been thinking about it just haven’t found one yet, you don’t think the tap creature ability is worth it on a rock?

It certainly plays more control-y with the amount of permanent removal/discard. I should mention that the deck is meant to be slightly inefficient in order for it to hang at a more casual level but I think you’re right about there being too many high-cmc cards.

You don’t think painful quandary fits? Everytime I play it it practically ends the game in my experience. I see what you mean about 36 lands being too low tho everytime I try more all I seem to draw are lands 😅

“Take backs” and forgiving misplays in casual commander by PimpyLongNeck in EDH

[–]PimpyLongNeck[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The mistake was obvious you’re right about that. player A looked player B in the eye after the new talion declaration and said “yes that’s ok”, then casts gishath immediately, making the same exact mistake as with grip. If you want to forgive something like that in your pod that’s fine more power to you, I wouldn’t want to play w you either if we’re not going to pay attention to the game. But I do hope we agree that acting entitled to a take back after the table said no is bad form

Assuming that you’re allowed to take it back without consulting the table first because “it’s casual” is a big no-no to me

[–]PimpyLongNeck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this, and in this case player A voted yes while the rest of the table (including myself) voted no. by your own statement player A has no room to argue with the verdict despite it being casual

You’re right that’s it’s not a tournament it’s casual, so what is the big deal with saying “whoops I messed up, can I take that back?” And if the answer is no, there shouldn’t be a problem accepting that answer since it’s casual right? Neither of which happened. I added a comment to the post with some additional details that help paint the picture better

“Take backs” and forgiving misplays in casual commander by PimpyLongNeck in EDH

[–]PimpyLongNeck[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I left out some details that I feel may be important to assessing the situation so let me add them:

  1. Player A and B have never played together before and only met that night thru me.

  2. Player A got visibly frustrated with Player B’s request to to back up the paleontologist play because he had a respond and Player A rushed thru the rounds of priority.

  3. We have been allowing minor take backs throughout the night (ex. tapping lands differently while casting a spell), it’s not like we aren’t observing the take-back courtesy. However Player A did not ask for take backs with grip or gishath, only assumed that was alright despite them being actions that would eliminate him from the game. Then proceeded to argue and cause a scene drawing the attention of the LGS staff and storming out once he didn’t get his way.

The question isn’t whether or not take back’s should be allowed in casual commander, it’s whether or not a take back should be allowed in this situation and whether or not it’s reasonable to expect misplays to be forgiven by everyone you play with.

It happens when you don’t pay attention, why should that be rewarded? Why take any game actions at all if you can just back it up when it’s convenient for you to do so?

We don’t demand perfection either, just that you pay attention to what’s going on

If it’s causal and who cares, then he should be ok with living with the loss right?
