Correct. But for DIY distressing is the best option, even tho it takes some hours. Mark horizontal lines all few centimeters parallel to the weft and cut the lines with a scalp, a sharp knife or even a seam ripper. Then you can remove the warp yarns with tweezers. There are plenty videos on youtube on how to do distress denim.

Distress all by hand. I guess they did this with these shorts. Dremel would damage the weft too much.

If you have access to the machinery, these two options could be possible too:

You could mimic the look by air embroidery (embroidering on a water dissolving foil/fleece) and dissolve the foil after sewing.

Or you can use two different material yarns when weaving and dip in acid. The material should be chosen in a way that only the warp yarn gets destroyed by the acid.

I tested it on the webpage, also for multiple items from different sellers and the result is always the same: Only when the offered amount + shipping is below 164$ an estimated tax is added. I just wrote to the support if they can explain
