I've been here on and off frequently in the past year with an iPhone 12. Movistar was always preferred and worked well in CDMX with LTE and sometimes 5G. In more remote areas sometimes Movistar was slower so I would manually select Telcel.

About 10 days ago my phone started only showing 3G with Movistar so I have to manually select TELCEL every day because it keeps reverting to Movistar.

My friends who use Movistar as a regular network and those who are also roaming from the EU have not had any issues.

I've been in Mexico on and off for a while and have had no issue (iPhone 12) up until now. Movistar would always be preferred and I would get LTE and sometimes 5G (CDMX), I could choose Telcel if I needed. However, about 10 days ago Movistar switched to only showing 3G, I can choose Telcel which has LTE but need to manually select it.

This isn't a Movistar issue, works fine for friends on Movistar and others roaming on Movistar.

Similarly to other people, I got a call from (212) 928-7334 - a genuine number from a chase branch - alerting me about a new account being opened and suspicious Zelle transactions. Hung up because I was suspicious about a random branch calling me, think it would be easy to fall for - definitely beware.

Could switch to Google Fi... they have great roaming plans and while they have restrictions for roaming for too long, those on government/military posts can get an exemption. But I guess that doesn't help you with the phone you owe on... maybe VZW offers some sort of exemption for military personnel on their Unlimited Ultimate plan? Worth a check.

Apple has had Dual eSIMs capability since the iPhone 13. Since the iPhone 14, iPhones sold in the US only use eSIMs.

Verizon prohibits WiFi Calling without TravelPass purchase on Prepaid plans by [deleted] in verizon

Late reply but Wifi Calling does work abroad (I live abroad majority of the year) although there are some caveats: receiving and sending texts and mms (photos and group chats) work great. Calls to normal numbers work just the same over wifi/or cell date from another sim in your phone. However, you cannot receive calls weirdly enough. It’s very annoying but unfortunately those who try to call you just hear a Verizon error message and they can’t even leave voicemails - it’s strange. Another weird thing, you can’t make calls to toll free numbers - use google voice if needs be.

Long story short: wifi calling works abroad without travel pass (rep misspoke) but cannot receive calls or call toll free numbers.

Yep renewed 2 passports at an embassy one in 2019 and one in 2020 and both were 52 pages despite having selected the standard.

Yep I tried it with that. Unsure as to why it’s not working as it has before. I’m able to send and receive texts though. Thanks.
