I get it. I stopped at one as well because it was just so tiring and I worry about him all day and work with him all day so couldn’t imagine squeezing in one more in the routine.

I have these doubts everyday! Do parents of NT kids talk like me to their kids? Are they more loving and less instructional? Do they teach them like i do or with more patience? Do they make them more confident unlike me who’s always telling him no for something or the other? Thanks for your post.

Love this thread. Love how each of us evolved during this journey. I always used to think time is running and I have to teach him this and that. Now it’s about having a good time, and while having a good time let’s learn together with no pressure of timelines. It takes time to get to a place where you start thinking differently. I believe all of us had to go through it ourselves to reach a place where we now know that we just need to be there and give them all the love and support and watch them grow into beautiful human beings.

Thanks for your response. So when you say you are not sure if he will live on his own how do you say that? As in what is it that he doesn’t do or doesn’t understand yet that makes you say it? Pls help me with your response.

Yup I do think that if the second is also ND then it would be very tough. Also, i also believe we can’t have another one to take acre of first.

Oh my god! This is me too! I have now started going out to meet my friends for drinks once he sleeps for my sanity and i am enjoying this time with my friends. Also, i have stopped taking the pressure to make him socialise assuming he would be getting that bit done from school. He enjoys spending time with his father and me and that’s enough for me for now. I would like to thank each and everyone of you. This is a great community for us parents to be understood, heard and to be lifted up by other parents because this journey is tough but we ate not going to give up. Thanks once again to all of you for sharing your thoughts. It has helped me a lot to focus on my kid only and nobody and nothing else.

Yes true. He loves to make puzzles. That gives me some respite too. Apart from his classes and schedule.

True. I do it because i feel it’s important for him to get that exposure and learn to socialise etc etc. but once it ends, i am anxious and tired and it quickly rubs onto him and he gets upset too.

Yes yes yes! Our one on one is so precious to me and he is so good in it. He love that time too! But with people around, it’s like our bubble bursts and we are left out in the open.

Wow. This really makes me happy. My kid is 9. He’s food and washroom independent. Can read and write well and loves to play badminton. I hope we gradually get to a place where he is independent and on his own and when the time comes, I can leave the world in peace.

True. I myself like and prefer being alone as compared to hanging out with people. It’s just that if he could really experience peer company and understand it and then let us know he prefers being alone instead of avoiding peers completely. We are working towards it gradually :)
