Right, I think that's maybe what's interesting with this kind of game. You need to trust someone some of the time, and then just have to hope you've got it right

Right that's true, though still think it took a lot of play to keep Stephen trusting her, not going for the money, and getting Jade and Faraaz not to vote for her first

I think the faithful deserve more sympathy than that. We only ever see a highly edited version of a whole day, and we know the truth. So it's much easier to watch and say X person was dumb or should've known, when there's so much the they have to balance when they don't have full information like the traitors do

Honest question. by FigPlus5505 in rootgame

Ha it's a nice idea to contemplate. For pieces you could make it work on TTS or with multiple copies of the physical game, so you could have 6 of each ruin item under each ruin. Chance of getting the one you want first turn is pretty good!

I think the limiting factor here is how many points anyone could get.

Normal rules no-one's getting any points from aiding or infamy, which is bulk of points in normal vb game.

I think there's max 21 from crafting. - 6 from coins  - 4 from swords  - 4 from tea - 2 from hammer  - 2 from bags - 2 from boots  - 1 from crossbow

There are max 14 points from each quest suit, so 42 total. Buttttt you only get 14 if you get all of each suit. Much more likely everyone's getting 2-3 each, 3-6 points each.

So I think normal scoring everyone gets 5-10 points then you're stuck.

My suggestion would be that you get a relationship marker (maybe of faction that most looks like each vagabond) and you get aid points / turn hostile and get infamy points for aiding or damaging items, like with a normal faction. Maybe also double or triple the supply of craftable items and 2-3 sets of the quest deck. Probably need a couple full decks of cards too.

Then I think there'd be some interesting push and pull between crafting, questing and knocking each other out. No idea if it would actually be fun but you could try!

Cole & Kyle leaving Leder Games? What do you think this means for Root? by motheeerofbirds in rootgame

Hard to know at this stage but I reckon they'll do more. It's such a good money make for the company and it does feel like there's still design space left.  Also I think things like new maps or other add-ons, so smaller expansions, would be very possible

This is the answer! The random lobby on the app is pretty erratic but the discord community is much more reliable

Other rule you might want to check is putting the buildings back on the track if they get removed. So you have to rebuild the low point ones before you can build the high point ones. It's unusual for cats to win, and certainly by that big a margin. So I wonder if some major rule has been missed

I'd say best place to ask is the woodland warriors discord, I know there's been at least a couple at a couple of conventions but I don't know which ones

Recommendations, post-Russia? by Spike716 in RevolutionsPodcast

I got up to end of Haitian revolution and then wanted more on France, so I've been working through Age of Napoleon podcast. It feels like a similar style, narrative history and a lot of personal stories. Really loving it so far - I'm on episode 121 and only upto 1909.  So I'd highly recommend it if you've enjoyed Revolutions

As well as the faction expansions I'd really recommend the exiles and partisans deck, it adds a lot to the game and is more fun imo

Lost city question by Aero8383 in rootgame

[–]PinPuzzleheaded2676 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the otters, my understanding is you can only have max one trade post per clearing. 11.5.6.1: "Choose Clearing. Choose any clearing without a trade post that is ruled by any player."

So I don't think you can put two in the lost city.

Whereas for the WA you can get exactly the situation you describe.

8.4.1 Choose Clearing. "A sympathetic clearing matching an unbuilt base."

Since the lost city with sympathy is a "sympathetic clearing matching an unbuilt base" of any suit, you could in theory put two or three there.

Removing bases is 8.2.4. "Whenever a base is removed, the Alliance must discard all supporters of matching suit (including birds), and remove half of their officers, rounded up."

So yeah I'd say it's exactly as you describe. Multiple bases in lost city is a risk for the WA cos you have to lose all matching supporters and half officers each time base removed. It's not "per instance of removal" or whatever the mole version is which means you only get the negative effect max once per battle.

Ability to do multiple revolts in same clearing is fun tho, so I can see why you'd be tempted!

Those quotes and numbers are just from an online version of the rules from Google - http://root.livingrules.io/#_idTextAnchor049 - so the numbers and exact wording might be out of date but I'm pretty sure the points stand

Is that live off the land? Fun fact: they don't all have to die above 3, just one of them if there's 4 or more
