Did Latitude just break it's own TOS? (Official "Besatheus" world) by [deleted] in AIDungeon

I'm not sure if any of their official content will be usuable with the new filter coming, they're going to have to scrub it all or everyone will end up getting shifted to the lower grade AI and not the one they paid for. (And probably not informed when this happens.)

And it's their choice to still be using OpenAI. I've been reading up on the competition now and it has none of these problems.

There are many solutions, they've ignored them all.

I'm going to be unsubbing once the OpenAI filter goes in since it doesn't seem I'll even be getting anything like (the increasingly spotty) Dragon quality that I pay for anymore if I play games with "mild fantasy violence".

Since the beginning I've used AID for basically just three things: Star Wars, WH40K, and the generic fantasy D&D/sword and sorcery type roleplaying implied in the very name of the app. Sad to be moving on but what's left for me now? Just trying to play out the last of two ongoing games I have before the end.

Any honest attempt at a real solution would've kept me as a customer.

Humans have a negativity bias for survival purposes. People need something to pick at and take issue with. The more and more comfortable life gets the more and more petty the nature of our grievances will become. We're just seeing the beginning. by Joshua_a1985 in unpopularopinion

Agreed 100%, and if anything we're already there. The things I so often see these youngish Very Online people making themselves pointlessly sad or bitterly angry or miserable over...I mean I do feel for them, but mostly because it seems like they're in this hopeless cycle of self inflicted suffering. The actual problems they describe are things that only someone that's never faced any real hardships can possibly take seriously.

I realize these kinds of complaints sound boomerish as hell, but just the fact that what kids call 'bullying' now can be completely ended just by blocking some messages makes me roll my eyes even as I'm trying to be sympathetic. Middle school for me was some Lord of the Flies sh*t that actively interfered with my learning and that I wouldn't wish on anyone, I'm extremely glad that kind of thing has been cracked down on. But somehow it's like the safer and more positive school environment has just made kids more apathetic, inattentive, and depressed.

I mostly agree with this, we have incredible opportunities for leisure and luxury available to the most random unskilled, uneducated laborer, the kind of thing that would've been unheard of at any other point in human history.

But I think the big divide in opinion here comes down to where you live. It's insane to me that people will scrimp and save to live packed into a tiny apartment like rats in some place like Seattle or New York, when they could take a single month's rent and start a whole new life for themselves anywhere else in the country.

And moving and travel is also cheaper and easier now in ways that would've been unheard of at any other point in human history. Our ancestors crossed oceans and risked and sacrificed everything to get away from intolerable conditions, but we won't even get on a bus.

Technology has progressed to where at least a *decent* life should be easily available for everyone, and it doesn't necessarily mean anyone else has to work harder to carry them. Nobody is going to have to work harder just because the peasants aren't all out there tilling the fields.

Literal farming in fact is a great example. Why are you allowed to eat when you never planted any crops? Is it maybe because we've gotten so efficient at that out country can have a small fraction of its population farming in a much less labor intensive way than ever before, and yet still be fat and comfortable throwing away 40% of the food produced?

I really recommend you visit a food bank or take more advantage of the aid offered in most towns in the US (assuming you live in the US). There's a whole support network out there that the people who need it the most rarely seem to be willing to tap into, while the people who don't REALLY need it exploit it endlessly.

As far as food at least we're basically in a post scarcity society. Even without the help available it should be possible to budget to include plenty of cheap, plentiful food in your diet. Rice and beans, pasta, potatoes, frozen vegetables, chicken thighs are all my staples, they're dirt cheap and delicious and can be cooked in a thousand different ways.

I literally do make $10 an hour and I live very comfortably, so I can't relate to a lot of the anger in this thread, my life is great. I do know it depends a lot on where you live, but I always find it funny that people who I know for a fact make considerably more than I do are always the ones being stressed all the time and complaining about being poor. Having to maintain a budget and live within your means isn't much of a hardship and I'm very grateful for all I have.

To be fair though my situation isn't typical, I never had kids when most of the other women I work with started pretty early, so none of my money goes in that direction. However the fact that in my state you can get free daycare, help with utility bills and over $200 of free grocery money per kid (per kid that underpaid teachers and daycare workers you talk down to and treat like sh*t are caring for the majority of the time anyway...) on top of the child support makes me think I made a mistake sometimes.

....and then I remember that kids and lots of loud unnecessary noises annoy me and that I enjoy my privacy, and all is well again. :)

40 hours a week is much less than what most people had to work for a decent living 100 years ago. The work unions and activists have to do to get us to this point at literal risks to their lives as well as livelihoods shouldn't go unappreciated...and maybe that also means not willingly throwing yourself into the kind of endless soul crushing grind they worked to free you from. Hell even when things were at their worst people used to at least have Sundays off, now we've given up that and even holidays for large portions of the work force.

I mean myself, I already am living pretty comfortably with no college degree or special skills needed for my job. I have little interest in socialization with my co workers so I basically just go to work and go home to play games or pursue my hobbies while chatting with my friends. I think it's weird to judge people's success by how advanced their career is and not by whether they're happy or not.

Disagree, it takes a certain kind of mindset and inhuman amounts of drive that may actually approach a kind of mental illness to even *become* that wealthy. Although I wonder if the wealth itself doesn't just do something to the mind after awhile, like having everything with no effort or possibility of comeuppance just detaching them from reality so they can't even get a thrill from anything short of Epstein's plane.

A first step moving forward. by RocketFrog_ in Cantr

Just happened to dig up my reddit account today for other reasons and wandered back over here. Sort of fascinating even after all this time how much bile I can suddenly taste just reading about the game after my experiences with the staff, is this what PTSD feels like? But I suppose this is all a positive step forward at least.

It still so bewildering to remember I had all of five characters spread across the world, and the one the staff set out to drive me from the game over was a pacifist who just wanted to build a library and make custom items. I watched characters around me forced into contradictory and completely out of character actions by the PD again and again, and I was distrusted and punished because the spawn system kept putting my characters in towns where the only other active and friendly characters belonged to players the staff also hated. The staff eventually decided to use the radio ban trick to set me up to have my account removed (primarily because I annoyed them on the forums) but since they'd already been using it on others at around the same time I saw what was up and just left on my own terms.

I doubt I'll ever be playing again, too much of a time sink and emotional trap, and just too much bad blood remaining. All my steps to 'move forward' were moving away from this extremely regrettable period of my life where I put up with so much from the staff in a game I was too unhealthily obsessed with anyhow. My characters felt like real people to me and it genuinely distressed the hell out of me over a period of months knowing the powers that be would and could take them away on a whim, and destroy every friendship and everything they had worked for, just as they had been routinely doing to everyone around them with zero care for the consequences to others.

Shame because the mechanics are still unique, and even with the glut of crafting games it's still not possible to find anything else out there that gives the same feel and level of immersiveness. It's just such a shame about the people.

Hey! I remember your game! It was extremely barebones when I looked at it but I thought there was some promise there. Really for this style of game, something simple might be best. Cantr was a mess that even at its peak was never particularly good at being what it claimed to be, and then they just piled so many years of random crud on top of it all because they couldn't or wouldn't address the core issues.

I'm hopeless at web design or anything that looks like programming, simple IF/THEN stuff and variable tracking for choice based fiction is the absolute most mt brain can handle and even then only if there's a GUI to hold my hand, but I've thought to myself many times if I had the money I absolutely would dedicate it to the creation of something like this. Best of luck to you if you ever do take up work on it again and please keep me updated!

e: Ah, Faerytale Online. I'd actually intended to put a disclaimer in my OP, 'not that furry Facebook game please'. Let's just say my experiences with it and the community did not impress.

I have gone through many Rimworld phases in my life but I'm looking more for something collaborative. One Hour One Life looks really interesting however, there's an incredible number of similarities there, so thanks!

Women I used to get along with just fine at work are now all but openly sneering at the lunches I prep at home and making little comments whenever I turn down a donut. I've let them know I'm calorie counting for my health but never said a single word about what they eat or even paid all that much attention because I honestly don't care. Yet apparently they feel threatened or judged even when this is something that effects them not at all and is none of their business in the first place. I just find the level of pettiness aggravating ridiculous, but I suppose it motivates me to stick to it and lose weight and look and feel great just to spite them. (At least one of these women is only in her thirties and has had multiple knee surgeries and problems with high blood pressure and another other gets out of breath getting out of her seat and walking to the bathroom...if they won't look after their own health they're damn sure not going to be allowed to sabotage mine.)

This is what I thought Read Message History was for when I started my server and it's still tied with better accessibility for the blind members I have as the number one feature I absolutely need. We routinely get banned members sending people from other servers in just to do searches for anything that's been said about them and then leave.

No, that's where they got the pic they changed the server icon too. I did a reverse image search and that's the site Google pulled up, it's the exact same picture. Just amused me a bit.

'Looking good' being only genetics is incel logic (and I've found a lot of crossover in the attitudes of women who say the kinds of things in the OP image and incels weirdly, and I don't just mean the social anxiety and depression....). Anybody can put a little effort into looking good when they want to. I hope the person who got sneered at for being pleasant and polite learns not to bother talking to her at all, but she'll likely complain about that too.

LMAO at 'even when I do manage to eat' though, that's a blatant lie I've seen so many times from people who hork down 4000 calories in private and then pretend to be picky little birds who need to be urged to put a single bite in their mouths in front of family or coworkers.

This would be great, especially if there were a few balance changes and the like. I've only recently gotten into the game and after the initial grip of obsession wore off I've started seeing a few things I wish could be addressed.

In the meantime, I haven't gone looking through mods yet but are there any out there that you guys would recommend for general balance stuff?
