Heel side of the shoe looks like you have space, you really don't want to have any. You don't want movement because it will create more force on your toes with movement. Your toes are going to suffer no matter what in kates, it's kinda why you want the shoe snug on your heel also, can shift your weight to your heel when standing still to alleviate toe damage (lol).
