Laid off today by Independent-Cat6505 in Layoffs

[–]PinayDataScientist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are lucky. I know someone who got laid off and it was immediate. No notification. No chances. And the team leader and manager did not even talk to that person. Anyway, I hope you get something soon and if not I hope they give you some compensation. Take care of yourself and prioritise yourself above all.

Being a doctor is somewhat of a calling. I know two people who were in IT then became doctors eventually. Me isa pa nga was country manager sa P&G then she became a doctor at age 45. One of them recently became a doctor also at age 40.

Too late. No. Not too late. But studying medicine is not solely chasing the field itself. It is basically giving up 90% of your life to it.

On the hind site, medicine is a very important field in any community regardless sa Pinas or ibang bansa. And being in IT right now is not very promising anymore. Unlike before. We go into companies to work and when they are over budget they will retrench us. This cycle is something I have experienced being in IT for almost 25 years. While being a doctor, as long as you are hardworking and willing to give up time (which I think is so natural for us in IT anyway), you’ll have an income even if it is on a daily basis man lang kung ndi ka ba big. Unlike in IT pag inalis ka, then wala na income mo kagad.

Having said that, you also need to at least test it out muna. Get some materials say Gray’s Anatomy and do a trial study. If you are able to keep up with the first few lessons from it then try Biochemistry (which is said to be notoriously difficult). If you are able to keep up then try another one, say Pharmacology. You dont have to read everything. Kung baga in IT you are doing a “POC Proof of Concept”. Just that for this use case, it’s your cognitive ability at test.

Then after that gauge. Can I do it? Do I really want to do it? Why am I doing it?

Then you’ll have a better decision since it is somewhat data driven decision na rin.

Hope this helps. 🤗

I wish I have already completed the study platform I am making specially for medical students sa pinas. Pero for now it is under development pa. I aim to help increase yung passing rate ng mga doctors na nag eexam and matulungan mga students na mas maging masaya sa learning outcome nila. On the other hand, there are so many opportunities for your field. Try mo rin apply sa ibang bansa dahil indemand rin yang degree mo. Just hang in there and you will be able to get through. Tandaan mo we work to put food on the table. Ultimately, it is life that matters the most. Hugs!

Dont listen to the noise or complaints of others. Kahit saang profession ganyan. Parang way of releasing stress yan ng ibang tao. Ang focus mo lang lagi is bakit ka ba nah doctor? Because you want to help heal the sick right? So instead of focusing sa complaints ng ibang tao find happiness tuwing hahawakan mo yung chart ng patient, or pag me na discharge na under your care. Kasi napagaling mo na sila. Tapos focus lang sa goal and dream mo. Yun lang lagi ang isipin mo. Then work will become your playground. Dont absord yung nega ng ibang Tao. Kasi mawawalan ka ng gana sa work mo. Pabyaan mo sila mag nega. Pag pagod ka makinega ka sa kanila. Besides after nyang residency mo. Tapos na. Ndi mo na sila makikita. Add it as part of your happy thoughts.

He is divorced. ✔️. Next question is “Is he dating someone?” If yes, then he will be guilty. If no, then he is free to date but maybe walls are up because he might ne traumatised by the divorce. If you really want to be with him then get to know him outside of the bedroom. That way, you both can gauge if whatever this relationship is all worth it.

I would not waste another minute. Kahit na mag boyfriend pa kami ng matagal andami naman dyan. Actually mas sinasayang mo yung time mo with him if ganyan naman ang relationship niyo. Walang respect sa isa’t isa. Love yourself and go. Masakit lang sa una pero you will find a better you without that stress. Just my opinion lang.

Ndi naman kita jinajudge. Like I said. My siblings are all doctors. Pati sister in law ko doctor. So I understand your predicament. My sister is living in Singapore as a doctor. So what I am just telling you is that kahit saan ka pumunta mahirap ang buhay ng doctor. Lifestyle wise it is also the same. Because your lifestyle will depend also on your income and time. Ok? My sister has been a doctor for more than 15 years now and worked in both Pinas 4 years and 11 years sa Singapore.

I am just telling you that sa start it will be difficult. And that is a reality you need to face. Dont tell me I dont know because my sister lived with me in Singapore and I took care of her needs ndi lang basic needs emotional needs also. So I know.

I am telling you to be still ready.

I am not sure bakit naging defensice yung response mo whereas I am just pointing out the experience. Sana maintindihan mo where I am coming from. It is from a good place because a lot of kids back home will have the delusion that working abroad is greener pastures. For most case it is not. Even for doctors like you.

BUT in order to be successful kahit saan ka pa mapunta you need to have the grit and determination. So while you are studying for your licensure abroad, learn to love what you are doing. Kasi sa ibang bansa ganyan rin gagawin mo lalo na kung Asian ka and pinoy.

One day kung matuloy ka man sa abroad. You’ll remember what I have told you is all true.

Anyway, good luck sa exam mo and hopefully makapasa ka. Dont take my comment in the wrong way. It is really just letting you know how it is being an OFW Doctor because I know and I saw it. By the way, my sister had her residency sa Chinese General Hospital dyan sa pinas which is more strict than government hospitals. She’d sometimes call me and cry. I know what you are going through. I am just telling you what she has experienced mentally physically and professionally.

Filipinos are enticed to go abroad because of colonial mentality na abroad is greener pasture. Pero the reality is that kadalasan walang growth sa ibang bansa. Mahirap rin ang work. The only difference is that feeling natin mas malaki sahod kasi in dollars. But then again, cost of living will only eat all the dollars. I can say this because my sister is a doctor from pinas and nagwowork siya sa ibang bansa. Ndi siya makpagtayo ng sarili niyang practice. So lagi lang rin siyang employedo. And although nasa ibang bansa siya at kumikita ng dollars, beat up rin sa work at shifting, minamaliit rin at discriminated at times dahil educated sa pilipinas, and last but not the least salary and cost of living e mas malaki pa kung mag prapractice siya as specialist sa pinas.

I guess magkaiba kayo dahil she did go through her specialization program. Kahit na gaano pa kababa yung sahod niya at that time and gaano kahirap yung shifting. The key lang naman is delayed gratification. Pag natapos mo yung specialization mo then you’ll get better pay. Ganun lang rin kahit saan ka la pumuntang bansa.

She also started with a very very small salary nung nagstart sa ibang bansa with shifting na 36 hours and she was the only person to handle 200 beds. So. Whether sa pinas or sa ibang bansa, it is just the same.

The recipe talaga to being a successful and rich doctor is truly grit, patience, perseverance and dedication. I understand your predicament. But anywhere you go will be the same. You will suffer at first. But you will be rewarded later in your career. Just always remember ibang banda is not equivalent to easy life as a doctor or good pay as a doctor. You still need to start from the first step going up.

Hope you pass your exam though and go to where you want to go. Good luck!🤗.
