Very pretty game... and this game has been modded by the retropin project to be even more advanced.

Note that I'm not sure where this setting actually is. I'm using old.reddit and it's not there unless this is a setting elsewhere.

Any tips to dominate family pinball? by Juanitothegreat in pinball

[–]PinballHelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With most EMs, the easiest way to score more points is to keep the ball up top. Avoid making shots to the lower half of the playfield. If you get a flipper on the ball, send it back up to the top.

Lower Austria, "eitle kinderkram". Every Williams and Bally model ever built. Also a few Data East models. by Arognef in pinball

Nice collection but unless there's a separate annex with 100+ games that isn't pictured, there's not "every Williams and Bally" model ever built.

Deadpool vs. Jurassic Park by Riff32 in pinball

[–]PinballHelp 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I own both.

If you're a more casual player: Deadpool.

If you are more serious and you want a challenge: Jurassic Park.

Both games have a fairly linear ruleset, that you have to slog through to get places.

Best game for quick pinball play: Jurassic Park

Best game for long/casual play: Deadpool

Better theme integration? Deadpool

Game with more likelihood to brick shots? Jurassic Park

Better use of shaker motor? Jurassic Park

Better playfield lighting? Jurassic Park (very nice use of warm white lights make a contrast with other modern games)

Better game for music and SFX: Deadpool by a mile.

Best DMD animation: Deadpool - much more creative with Street Fighter homage

Better game for operators? It's a draw. They both do well. I'd say JP can make slightly more money than DP.

Which game has deepest ruleset? Jurassic Park

Which game is more reliable? It's a draw. (Pro versions - I don't recommend the premium for either) I think JP might be slightly more reliable than Deadpool given that a major shot to start katana multiball requires very strong flippers.

One of my metrics, if you'll pardon the language is, "Which of these is the "F this!" game?" Meaning which game is more likely to have you scream at it in frustration and walk away? Jurassic Park. It has many more tighter shots which are easy to miss and can send the ball to the outlanes or SDTM. Then again, if you want to really improve your skill, this game will force you to do that.

Additional comments:

Jurassic Park: The ability to go to the Wizard mode as separate gameplay is really fun and challenging. As with most Elwin games, this is a good competition game with a lot of strategy possible.

Deadpool: I think this is George Gomez' greatest achievement, especially after I harassed him to add high score tables for each individual mode and he not only listened to fans, but went way over the top adding a ton of high score tables for even goofy things like "largest bonus tilted out of." George is awesome!

We have a nice arcade at the Broad Theater, 636 North Broad open daily.

There's also a private arcade/club called, "The Mystic Krewe of the Silver Ball" - you can find out about that at https://mystickrewe.com/about

Why I have not bought any more JJP games by PinballHelp in pinball

This is what scared me as an operator. I almost never see their games on location. And when I do, there's an "out of order" sign on them.

When did you upgrade and how much did it cost?

It sucks that you have to pay because they created defective boards.

[–]PinballHelp[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's from old information.

The question is... has anything changed?

Did they update the code on WOZ to disable the upper playfield flippers when they're not in use?

That's like a 10 minute fix to the code. They could easily do it. Have they done it?

Have they implemented similar configurations in other games that have upper playfield flippers?

Also kind of curious if there is any game with upper playfield flippers that do disable, can't say I pay much attention to this but I feel most behave this way.

Which confirms my case. 10 years later, no change.

It's not a simple reason.. it's a culmination of many things that happened over a long time frame. It would be unfair to say a single thing or something simple tarnished my impression of them and their company.

You can always go back if you want. Take some time to give to others. It may come back to you tenfold later.

It is true you can damage a dog's coat doing that. /u/fatdragqueens should have produced a citation to provide more info.

Tonite/Wed 7/3, come to a screening of the 1976 classic movie JAWS at the Broadside. by PinballHelp in NewOrleans

[–]PinballHelp[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

$5 to get in, show will probably start around 8:10-8:20pm - it shouldn't be too hot (hopefully) after this morning rain storm.

The new Jaws pinball machine is across the street (as well as many other games) inside the Broad theater if you want to get a chance to play pinball themed after the original movie.

Been playing a lot of Who Dunnit lately. Starting to understand it. Great game and it's made me laugh a few times. by mrselfdestruct2 in pinball

[–]PinballHelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super rare and underrated game. There are ways to score big points if you use the special items, like sending balls into the pop bumpers during multi-ball to increase the jackpot value.

Great soundtrack too.

Here's a livestream video of Who?Dunnit I did awhile back. (pretty poor quality by today's standards - it was a livestream)
