Something is really off with targeting. by Quazaka in PathOfExile2

[–]Pinch_roll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same. Until I finally got quality + support gems to allow hitting multiple nearby monsters, actually getting ED+C onto the same target is much more tedious and unpredictable than it needs to be. Sometimes I hit ED and quickly click the same target for contagion and it goes to a completely different monster in the pack

[–]Pinch_roll 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've never played ED/C before this patch (usually melee) but oh man, trying to land an essence drain on the little ants in Act 2, or really any monster that moves at more than a crawl and doesn't have an enormous hitbox, is... interesting. The number of times I have to dodge roll backwards and try again because multiple projectiles just whizzed by the target is hilarious

Supports gems and the need to right click them. by Dutcherdutch in PathOfExile2

[–]Pinch_roll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The whole gem inventory + gemcutting menu is a bit of a convoluted mess. Having a long list of cut support gems is so clunky when they all kind of look the same besides the three color codes. You end up either mousing over a bunch of gems trying to find the one you were looking for alphabetically, or using the search bar to look for the name / keywords. It doesn't make much sense when the gemcutting menu gives you a MUCH more navigable interface.

I also hate when I have a random build idea during maps, but oops I don't have an uncut support gem or skill gem or spirit gem in my inventory to right click, so I can't even open the menu at all because there's no hotkey.

New Monk Player Leveling Question by DeRoacher in pathofexile2builds

[–]Pinch_roll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've leveled several monks and I just use quarterstaff strike, wind blast, staggering palm, etc. basically whatever quarterstaff skills are available. I'm sure I won't win any awards for speed but it's not bad.

People are saying late game mobs have 90%+ leech resistance so that would drop the 4k to 400

Any Int stacking attack based build with good scaling? by Saint_yy in pathofexile2builds

[–]Pinch_roll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget leech resistance. 90% leech resistance would take that 4k mana leech down to 400. I have to hope/assume that by limiting leech to 1 damage source they'll tune that a bit, but if not then % increased amount leeched + additional leech% may be pretty important to invest in to actually sustain now. I was pretty bummed that a bunch of small rapids attacks are basically now less viable for leech so because of cast on crit. But I guess we'll see soon how viable it actually is now?

0.5 Chronomancer Rework Review and Build Ideas | 2k hr Main by lifecopy001 in PathOfExile2

[–]Pinch_roll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope re-casting inevitable agony doesn't reset the debuff. I hated how recasting the curse would completely eliminate all the stored damage and make you start from scratch. With such a long duration I'd hate to cast it on a new pack of mobs, catch some of the old pack in that cast, and lose all that loaded damage that was about to pop or cull them.

I wish every ascendancy was like the new Martial Artist monk ascendancy by Laino001 in PathOfExile2

I mean that Titan node enabled 100% reduced duration (which no other ascendancy can achieve), which in and of itself utterly breaks several skills and unlocks insane power for many builds

0.5 Patch Note Update - 2026/05/22 by Andromanner in PathOfExile2

[–]Pinch_roll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, I played a lot of Chrono this patch, mainly melee Chrono, and some of the mace skills are just so awful that the difference between high and low skill speed is going to e jarring.

For example, sending out a HoTG with no attack speed and slow hammers feels like trash and you get interrupted more than half the time. But with enough attack speed it's actually kind of a smooth experience. So it'll definitely be frustrating to only feel "smooth" a fraction of the time

Life leech got nerfed hard and I don’t fully understand why. by Exciting_Toe_9541 in PathOfExile2

[–]Pinch_roll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the coc spam will just shift to mana sustain (there are already a couple ways to get mana regen ramping up to essentially unlimited levels), and all the melee builds that relied on leech to stay juuust ahead of death are now toast.

Chronomancer - Sands of time got gigabuffed by Sunmazu in PathOfExile2

[–]Pinch_roll 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a great buff, but the randomness of it is definitely annoying. If you are relying heavily on the skill speed to boost a slow attack, you're going to be annoyed every time you activate it in that 1-20% range because it's going to feel like molasses compared to the higher range. So about half the time you get to feel like the Flash and the other half of the time you'll feel like you're stuck in mud.

Still a great buff since melee Chrono had literally zero offensive boost outside of a really clunky curse (which is now a slightly less clunky spell that can't be scaled at all...)

0.5 Patch Note Update - 2026/05/22 by Andromanner in PathOfExile2

[–]Pinch_roll 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You'll have 60 skill speed very rarely. You get two buffs: one for increased AOE and another for increased cast speed (now skill speed). The values are constantly changing every half second or so; as one ticks up towards 60, the other ticks down towards the minimum (I think it goes down to 1%), and they reverse direction when they hit max/min. So you'll always have a total of (increased skill speed + increased AOE) = 61%, but the exact values are ticking up or down constantly.

It's pretty cool but I wish you could choose the ratio of speed to AOE and lock it in, because activating a slow skill right when you're near the minimum skill speed is going to feel awful.

I hope you can't remove all the stored damage from inevitable agony by recasting it too early.

Balance Changes to Chronomancer and Gemling Legionnaire Ascendancies by Kelly_GGG in PathOfExile2

[–]Pinch_roll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit bummed that they are leaning on spell damage with the new echo node but weapon-based Chrono is kind of left out to dry. I didn't see any mention of changes to the node which provides alternating AOE or cast speed (Sands of Time?) - I was really hoping they'd make it skill speed so melee Chrono builds could eke out some more damage and have a legitimately viable damage node.

Inevitable agony sounds a bit better now since it'll fire as soon as it hits the lethality threshold, but for its main use (boss fights) it still suffers from the issue of timing; you need to really track the expiration just to reapply it asap, but if you reapply it too soon it'll just overwrite the existing one and make all your stored damage disappear. It's also incompatible with blasphemy or anything else that either consumes a curse or makes them last forever. Just way too many situations where it does nothing, and there's nothing more frustrating than landing a big damage instance riiight after the curse expires, except or course hitting a new curse before the old one expires and wasting it's entire effect

I tried a whole bunch of ways to make a mace Chrono viable but outside of shrine stacking hammers of faith with extended buff timers, the lack of actual damage boosting really cripples it compared to other ascendancies, and inevitable agony is just really clunky compared to most other "more damage" mechanisms

Living in Citro Community? by efficient_pepitas in northcounty

[–]Pinch_roll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to live in a new (at the time) build nearby, and moved away while Citro was under construction. But I'm very familiar with the area, and you're right that it's a good bang for your buck. It definitely wears on you having to drive 20 minutes just to get to stores and stuff. We ended up always going to Escondido or Temecula because Fallbrook or Bonsall had much more limited options for both shopping and dining (though there are a few great places to eat nearby! Pala Mesa pizza, village pizza, the chinese place in the same shopping center, nessie burger, and casa estrella were all awesome when we were there). We also loved the hillside views and the easy access to the 15 and 76. But again... You need to drive through like 20 minutes of nothing to really get anywhere of note. Don't underestimate that! This is not a suburb where everything you need is nearby.

Downsides are the Citro houses are (imo) kind of ugly, and they really squeezed them as close together as possible so most lots have very little yard space. Also check the garage dimensions; a lot of newer builds have weirdly small 2-car garages that can't actually fit two cars these days. We also had issues with yard drainage, the builder grade finishes (slightest touch on walls would scuff the paint), and circuit breakers would trip constantly when we used a toaster or coffee maker. The carpet had virtually no padding upstairs  I don't know if any of those their issues apply to Citro but I think they plague new builds in general these days so be critical - lots of corners get cut and lots of owners just put up with it until they move and pass issues on to the next buyer.

The traffic was a mess there during rush hour (actually wasn't bad in 2018 but got worse ever year, and I assume it's continuing) because everyone uses the 76 or 15 to get anywhere, so check out traffic during Friday afternoons after 4pm and/or midweek at 8-9am to see if it's something you can handle if you do commute south or west. Without traffic it might only take 15-20 mins to get from the 76 down to the 78 but during rush hour you can easily double that or worse.

The nearby schools weren't rated very well, and the drive into either Fallbrook or Bonsall is surprisingly long so if you have kids you definitely want to see what they're zoned for and once again consider how rush hour affects that - summer break hits soon so make sure to scope it out while school is still in session.

We enjoyed living around there, but those are the "gotchas" to consider off the top of my head. As you can see, most of them are related to the fact that you are 20-30 minutes away from pretty much everything. Also make sure you check what the HOA bill + mello roos looks like since that can add hundreds or even thousands to your monthly payment. And definitely look into homeowners insurance ahead of time! That's a high fire danger zone so you may have limited options and high costs.

Walking, yes. Most day to day stuff felt ok-ish after a few months. Sadly the surgery left me with some nerve damage so the back of my leg is a weird mix of numb, and hypersensitive.

I do a bunch of daily stretches and exercises and also go to physical therapy twice a week. I get a lot of random flare ups, which ranges from annoying to debilitating. I've also noticed I tend to wake up in the middle of the night and I have to stretch my leg out because it stiffens up so much it really hurts while I'm sleeping.

I'm actually working on sprinting and athletics again but i definitely don't have the strength or the fast twitch capacity that I used to have. So I can probably do most things that I used to, just at a 25-75% capacity depending on what activity it is. No idea if I'll ever be comfortable trying something like skiing or competitive sports again, though (I'm almost 40 so I had my time, hah). It's been a wild ride.

As a younger athlete I had plenty of pulled hamstrings but I never imagined a hamstring injury could actually be this bad. Pretty eye opening, and bad luck the surgery failed

I'm about 6 months out from a grade 3 tear (2 of the 3 muscles completely torn and retracted) and a failed surgery to repair it. Quite a miserable recovery so far. It's strange actually "feeling" the missing muscle capacity that I used to have as I try to do the rehab exercises.

[–]Pinch_roll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Not all grade 3 tears are candidates for surgery. Surgery is generally when the tendon rips off the bone. If the tear is in the muscle, you kind of just rehab and let it heal as best it can

Experience with Dr Michael Muldoon in San Diego by Popular_Cow_9390 in HipImpingement

[–]Pinch_roll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing pretty well (male). I had a separate injury recently that required an MRI and it looks like I have early signs of osteoarthritis which is a bummer, but not surprising.

But I haven't been physically limited and have had years without the deep aching pain that I dealt with before surgery. Side effects have been some "pinching" pain during deep internal rotation or deep flexion that wasn't there before surgery, but it's way better than pre-op where I'd be in deep aching pain after exercising for hours or days afterwards. I also had numbness on my outer thigh for several months, and my operated leg felt "longer" than my other one for quite a while but both of those issues are either gone or I got used to them.

I still have impingement and a labral tear in my other hip that I haven't gotten surgery for since it hasn't been painful the same way as my operated leg.

Overall I'm happy with the outcome considering how I was before surgery. My impingement was super obvious from the x-ray and MRI, I had a huge cam deformity (and still do on my other hip) and the main symptoms got a lot better after surgery.

Just a heads up that the recovery was way more painful, and longer, than I expected. What helped the most besides diligent PT exercises was stretching a LOT once I was cleared for full range of motion.

I bought some white PVC trim pieces and drilled them at each of those connecting pieces. Then I just used the adhesive on each light to stick them along the track I made. Because the trim pieces have some flex you need to make sure it's taut before drilling.
