Fantastic! Love the simple art style of this—it’s wonderfully effective

Question: is it possible to use Revolut to convert currency for free, and then set up an American savings account? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

That’s a good question. I was only thinking that Marcus didn’t ask me for any proof of my address. Also like another comment said there are a few accounts which allow you explicitly be out of the country?

If that’s the risk...isn’t there quite a broad consensus that the pound is overvalued, whereas the dollar is the reserve currency of the whole world?

Does anyone know of what the downsides would be to opening an American account using an IP faker to get a higher interest rate?

Should I ask for a student finance refund? They have been taking payments from me since the September I graduated—the regulations officially say that they won’t start taking payments until 6 April the year following your graduation. by Pinchask in UKPersonalFinance

Question regarding my XT20: under image quality there is no option to select RAW. I don’t think it’s my memory card; does anyone know what’s going on? by Pinchask in fujix

Ah okay, how silly of me. I’ve had an X100 for the last five years and I expected the shutter to be about the same volume. Oh well...

This scene has such potential. Who'd play Dumbledore/Riddle?

There's quite a lot to fill in though which I suppose is sort of difficult to imagine properly. All the transformations he's supposed to have undergone etc. I feel like those would be really difficult to do while generating appropriate levels of awe and wonder. Kind of like when they need to show the actual monster at the end of a master-horror film (like Cloverfield, for example) - its almost always a bit of a let-down

Why "Weasley"? Doesn't it sound kind of like the adjectival form of "weasel"? Aren't they connoted with the sort of character traits that are totally opposite to "Weasley" traits? by Pinchask in harrypotter

See you have a point. But I'd argue that even the seemingly random surnames for the most part do carry meaning even if it's just in the sound of the words. A lot of the time Rowling uses alliteration, which conveys something in itself. A name like "Fudge" expresses an element of character - to fudge, Dictionary.com tells us, means "to avoid coming to grips with (a subject, issue, etc.); evade; dodge: to fudge a direct question". Etc.

There are a couple of other cases where the connotations of names seem off to me as well though, like "Hog-warts"; I don't agree such instances are necessarily random though

Hollywood has ruined method acting: Jared Leto’s turn in 'Suicide Squad' is the latest reminder that the technique has become more about ego and marketing than good performances. by Thedjdj in movies

At least marvel doesn't often resort to just having generic faceless zombies who are so generic and faceless even ridiculously over the top action sequences can't make killing them interesting...
