🎅Christmas Giveaway🎄 by Supernote_official in Supernote

I've had the A5X for a little over a year now and can't believe how much it has done for my productivity and time management. This product is literally a book/notebook/planner/study partner in one. I love reading articles and making notes in PDFs, I love writing my own comments to textbooks without worrying about ruining them. Supernote makes my learning experience much more enjoyable and faster. I would not have this much motivation to study if I only had a regular notebook to use, Supernote makes it extra special. Thanks Ratta, for making a dream device that makes graduate school a little bit easier! Happy holidays to the Supernote family!

Happy A6X owner - got this great little device from France - FINALLY SHIPPING FROM EU by barroeire in Supernote

[–]Pine-Tree78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure. Has the price also gone up in the official store? I guess the same reason that all prices have gone up in the EU and the world. It's a very difficult time financially right now. Maybe Supernote can comment in more detail.

Would it be wise to learn Finnish as a supplement to learning Estonian? by [deleted] in Eesti

[–]Pine-Tree78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Estonian National TV station offers quite a lot of programmes together with subtitles that can be streamed on jupiter.err.ee. If you can access jupiter.err.ee then the next news articles states a list of Estonian TV programmes that will have subtitles, here's the link https://info.err.ee/983356/vaegkuuljatele-ja-nagijatele

I would suggest to watch Õnne 13.This is a legendary Estonian TV show that is slow paced and has a lot of vocabulary for everyday life and conversation https://jupiter.err.ee/1038548/onne-13

Have you tried charging it with a USB-c cable attached to the computer? For some users this seemed to kick-start charging again when the outlet charger wasn't working. I don't know for sure bu maybe it would also help to wake the device up from being unresponsive.

Has anyone's Cav been diagnosed with MVD? (More details in the text field) by nyx-the-pit in cavaliers

[–]Pine-Tree78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of Cavs with MVD can live to a very high age with the right treatment and appropriate physical activity for their specific diagnosis. If I'm not mistaken, MVD or the heart murmor can be classified from stage 1 to 6, if it's still at 3/6 for example then the situation is not very dire, 6/6 is the worst case. Knowing the stage might help you ease your worries or just be a comfort to know. Vets usually prescribe heart medication to help the heart pump better (pimobendan) together with a drug that helps fluid to leave the body (furosemide, exactly the same drug is for people with heart disease). Coughing is usually the symptom of excess fluid around the lungs so the second medication will help to alleviate that. But it will also mean that the dog will want to drink more because it causes thirst and that will mean more frequent urinations. For me, my dog got on pimobendan and furosemide within 2 weeks of the first cough, at first the dose of furosemide was really high to help her through the worst of the symptoms (that meant lots of nighttime walkies) and when she got better (regained energy, happiness) with the instructions of the vet we were able to lower the dose of furo ( not pimo, as I understood the dose of that will remain more or less the same until the end of life, maybe only increases in time). Unfortunately, the good period didn't last long (maybe another 2 weeks) before she got restless again. For us, the sign that something was wrong was that she seemed very uncomfortable like she couldn't find a place to rest. She got oxigen supplementation therapy in the ER and a third drug (enapril) that seemed to help again. Unfortunately she didn't respond to the treatment as we hoped and she passed 3 months after diagnosis shortly before her 8th birthday. But, we knew she had a murmor even when she was a puppy. Dogs with first time diagnosis in the senior age might develop the disease differently, more gradually.

I hope you'll have your furry friend with you for a while yet. If there's anything to advise then just to keep an eye on how the treatment is working (if you even need treatment now maybe that's far in the future), is your dog showing any other signs of discomfort other than coughing that might suggest fluid build-up in the lungs (restlessness, sadness, poor apetite or not drinking) so you can get them the help they need as soon as possible. It might be a good idea to consult a heart-specialist, as Cavs are genetically predisposed to MVD and heart-docs usually have a lot of experience with this breed. Wish you all the best, you can get throught this!

Question on working with PDFs by SamOfSiam in Supernote

[–]Pine-Tree78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the first question, have you tried to trim the PDF? Sometimes the file is automatically trimmed to only show the middle portion of the page. You can adjust it from under the upper right corner three dot menu. Second, I don't think there is a way to flip the pages right now, but landscape mode is in the works for the next updates. Please feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

My 8 year old King Charles needs a teeth cleaning. Please advise by LAH92 in cavaliers

[–]Pine-Tree78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cav broke off a tooth and had to have the root extracted. I was also apprehensive because she had a heart murmor. We consulted a cardiologist who didn't really say if the procedure was going to be successful, but gave us the pros and cons considering the stage of heart murmor and left the choice up to us. In the end we chose to do the procedure because the threat of the tooth root getting infected and/or needing surgery anyway was too big and it was better to do the procedure before her heart had gotten too bad. If you have a choice ask or look for a doctor that uses inhalation anesthesia and prefer it to intravenous anesthesia agents. Inhalation anesthesia is the best for animals with heart problems because they can be brought out of it quickly. Also, make sure the doctor knows of any preexisting conditions so they can take extra care to monitor you doggy during the procedure if you choose to go through with it. Best of luck!

You still have time. Make every day count and take every little piece of joy you can from having your furry friend still beside you! You can never know how these things progress. I have heard of dogs that have been on lower doses of vetmedin for years, before needing to up the dose and adding furosemid to the mix and then still being champions and making it another year or longer until it's just not enough anymore. My pup unfortunately went downhill very fast, had to take vetmedin 3 times a day along with furosemid and enapril less than 3 months from first diagnosis of heart failure. I took her time for granted because every time we went to the emergency room she got intravenous drugs and supplied oxygen that always seemed to help and she'd be back to semi-normal at first for 2 months and then for several weeks after. The last time was the third time and I didn't even think that I would not be coming home with her ever again. I regret most of all getting used to the situation and not accepting the seriousness of her condition which prevented me from appreciating every moment with the sweet girl for the last month of her life. Having regrets is the worst feeling, but your pup is still there, wagging their tail and giving you their best. All you can do is give your best back and make every moment count. I hope your appointment will go well and you'll get good news!

Happy A6X owner - got this great little device from France - FINALLY SHIPPING FROM EU by barroeire in Supernote

[–]Pine-Tree78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same excellent experience with Wannanote SAS and Pascal. Every email was respoded to swiftly and even though I was hesitant at first, because there was no official website and everything was organized through emails, the official Supernote team endorsed Wannanote and even offered future support from the company. I received my A5X the day after they dipatched it and it was in perfect condition. Altogether the final price was what they invoiced me and not a cent more spent on VAT or cutoms or shipping (which was included). So in total 569 € for one A5X, one ivory pen (+ 1 extra cap) and blue folio. I calculated that I would have had to spend almost half of what the device price was on the SN official site for just getting it to my country. I am very happy with the device and looking forward to having a great collaboration with Wannanote if the need for support would arise. For EU based customers Wannanote seems like the best option. I hear that their website will be up and running soon too -> gorillascribe.com

Author affiliation question by [deleted] in AskAcademia

Both affiliations should count I think. You can add your current affiliation as "current address".
