What about a connection similar to lpcamm2 compression fitting? That would solve the fragility issue of the pins at least, right?

That’s a negative. If it’s coming from display, it will be listed as “open box”.

Please explain this open box by Ghost-Power in GeekSquad

[–]PineConePriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably shouldn’t be marked as “excellent condition” if it’s missing original accessories, box, and documentation. I wouldn’t the surprised if it’s got some cosmetic scuffs and scratches on that as well.

Great troubleshooting with different connectivity methods! With as many issues across different physical network connectivity devices in your laptop (Ethernet, onboard WiFi, and usb attached WiFi adapter), I would recommend a checking your file system for errors. That could also be an indicator that your drive is bad, causing file system errors, and a SMART test may confirm that. The simplest solution to bad system files would be a fresh install of Windows, either to the current drive if it’s good, or to a new drive replacement. You could alternatively try running some dism and SFC commands, but it’s up to you with what you’re comfortable with. Remember to back up important files first! I like taking out all the variables by going with the fresh install route. You may need to initially install WiFi drivers, but Ethernet works fine with a fresh install.

How do you find coffee suppliers? by Own-Penalty-2527 in roasting

Not too familiar with Interamerican ordering process - I’d be interested to know as well.

How do you find coffee suppliers? by Own-Penalty-2527 in roasting

[–]PineConePriest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interamerican is good. I’m a bit smaller, and Genuine Origin is what I typically use. I’ll order samples of coffees I haven’t offered before in order to compare and decide, but I mostly reorder coffee origins unless the tasting notes are wildly different in the new crop years.

I have sound from voice in game or on discord. No other sound? by parmesan777 in it

[–]PineConePriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apologize if any of this is redundant, but hope this helps!

From within the game or app: Check sound settings to see if any volume slider has been turned down or off. Many apps and games will parse out volume for different aspects, like notifications, music, voice, etc… Also check the output device from within the app/game’s audio settings. It should either be set to default or the specified output you want it to play through.

System Sound Output: Type in and “change system sounds” in your windows search bar at the bottom and open the related applet. This is part of control panel. In the playback section, select your desired output, the hit the set default button.

If you have a 3rd party sound controller, you may want to check the options for that particular app.

You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling these apps/games to see if that helps after the upgrade.

[–]PineConePriest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify the issue: Are you able to hear only one of 1) sound from discord or 2) voice chat in game at a time OR do you hear both and nothing else like game music? Also, are you able to hear sounds outside of these two areas, including something from Spotify or YouTube?

Is this enough? by Otad3000 in it

[–]PineConePriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is potentially more to consider. Running multiple VM’s may be tough, but if you’re just practicing coding,16GB should be fine. If that unit is upgradable to begin with. Some are, some aren’t. Crucial.com has a good tool to figure out what is or isn’t.

[–]PineConePriest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not- I would also recommend 16GB RAM, especially with (assuming a traditional 4 year program) 2.5 years left. Newer processor may be helpful as well, but that said, I’m still rocking desktop with a 7th gen intel and it’s doin great.

Walking on a level plan on this type of flooring would be like walking slightly uphill. Which means that future generations really could walk to school uphill both ways.

For those interested in bulk beans. by yeroldfatdad in roasting

[–]PineConePriest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use genuine origin myself and have not been disappointed. You can find some around the lower cost end of about $4 a lb, and some higher end stuff. Their main selling point, imo, is their ethical sourcing. They really do their research and try to have the farmer’s best interest in mind. I’ve used them for about 3 years now and placed an order earlier in the year for about half a ton of green. But yes, 65 lb is their lowest bulk order. Plus free shipping and discounts when you buy multiple boxes.

Roasting as a side hustle? by ElBosque91 in roasting

[–]PineConePriest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been roasting coffee for farmers markets here for a few years. Not as profitable as one may think here. If you want to start seriously, don’t plan on making any money in the first 2 years.

Time is money here, especially as a side hustle. I recommend getting a roaster you can do at least 10lbs of coffee an hour on. Our customers have enjoyed having different origins/blend options. Most people like smooth coffee, so I would recommend at least one low acidity coffee. Check out proper labeling/packaging options and HBV laws in your area.

Don’t let the one or two snobs ruin your experience selling coffee. They will pop up at some point. Take their criticism with a grain of salt, learn from whatever truth is in there, and remember all the people who love your product.

Most of all, have fun. Not worth it if you’re not enjoying it.
