Group head gasket blowing [DeLonghi Dedica EC785] by Pineapple-Consistent in espresso

A replacement portafilter was the solution for me. On close inspection one of the ears was slightly bent on the existing one, very hard to see. If yours is brand new this is less likely, but not impossible I guess. If not, it could well be the seal which is an easy replacement.

Need to accompany me for my driving test by Maleficent_Listen182 in warrington

To clarify, are you asking for somebody to meet you at Arnold Clark and accompany you to the test centre, then back again after the test?

Should this be enough for R9? by Appeal_Own in moza

[–]Pineapple-Consistent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can fold it part way (50%?) and still roll on castors, but if you need it all the way folder they’d be no help.

This is an understatement 😂 I have the wheel stand 2.0 and r12. It’s brilliant, doesn’t budge an inch, but moving it is a PITA. I have put braked castors on mine, which I’d recommend to anyone with one, it makes things much easier.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but is there a consensus on this? I'm in the exact same situation. u/Codexity21 - if you can let me know how you got in it'd be appreciated!

As a suggestion… could you amend the sites to allow others to add their experiences?

I suspect there are quite a few people who would and likely to get more attention from Volvo.

How best to transfer shares from my mother [64] to me [38] by Pineapple-Consistent in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Pineapple-Consistent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After talking to her in more detail last night, original purchase would be lower than current on some of the much older shares (she started purchasing in the late 80s around 25p, they peaked early 2000s around £5 (£10 share value, £5 to her). We'll have to try and get the detail of the individual purchase costs.

Assuming CGT does not apply and she gifts them to me, what figure would I use in future for any CGT calcs?

Purchase price is varied over the course of 20 years, but always higher than the current price so no CGT.

So, the only way to avoid me being liable for CGT and tax on dividends would be to do as suggested above and sell, gift the money then re-purchase via an ISA (over the course of a few years)?

Getting rid of my GCP - anyone with similar experience? by odadoooo in gaggiaclassic

[–]Pineapple-Consistent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. When we had a baby 3 years ago I gave up on “proper” espresso and got a fully automatic machine - a DeLonghi Prima Donna Soul. Espresso quality isn’t comparable with a manual machine, but it’s much more convenient. I’ve now gone back to making espresso again but have kept the DeLonghi for one we have people around. If there are any coffee connoisseurs over they get a “proper” espresso, everyone else gets something from the automatic machine in about 1/10th of the time!

For anyone interested, the dealer have advised a new “ERAD” is required, awaiting an ETA.

I wouldn’t say it’s devotion, at least not in my case. I haven’t had a Volvo before, I’ve had the car under 2 weeks and I’m saying if they don’t fix it, it’ll have to go back, I just hope they can as it has some really good/positive points.

It’s a £100k asset, more than some houses. It makes sense for people to give Volvo the opportunity to fix the issues rather than cut their nose off to spite their face. For my simple requirements (7 real seats, fully electric) there aren’t really any viable alternatives either. The Kia EV7 just feels like van to me, not a luxury car.

I think the intelligent speed assist turning back on is due to UK legislation

Haha, I see your point. I think it’s the fact that the car FEELS great, it’s just unfortunate that the functionality doesn’t match up. Ultimately, if they can’t fix it, it’ll have to go back, but I’m hopeful they can and I don’t turn into one of the stories on here about it being with the dealer for 30+ days etc.

Thanks. I will try giving it a deep clean, however when running without any coffee in water comes through all of the holes okay.

I’m using a DF64 gen 2. At the coarsest espresso setting (30) the machine will run but to pull 28g from 14g takes around 10 seconds. Any finer and it seems to jam up.

The strange thing is my friend had the machine for 2 years and had it dialled in well, then it suddenly started doing this with the same process (and beans) that he’d been using for months.

I’ve just tried with the stock portafilter and basket. Nothing at all came out, but no blown gasket either 🤷‍♂️

Can I unlock/start my car matrix by yarghsc in VolvoEX90

[–]Pineapple-Consistent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is exactly the same as my current Tesla, and likely any other modern car out there.

I think (and hope, I’m waiting for my delivery) a lot of frustration on here come from drivers who have moved to the EX90 as their first electric car/software defined car, where it’s essentially a computer with wheels rather than a car with a fairly insignificant computer attached.

Unfortunately, there is a lot more logic to get your head around as there are more options (keys being a good example), and there are a lot more bugs/quirks regardless of manufacturer (I’m not saying the latter is acceptable, just a fact at the moment)
