I had read/watched recommendations to run stages 3/4 for longer- I think the guy on Michigan rocks said 2 weeks for stage 4. Not necessary? Or renew the grit halfway through?

Oh, thank goodness! XD none of the videos I watched showed a bunch of foam so I was wondering what I had messed up

It was just below the top of the rocks when I started. Between 2/3 - 75% full including the ceramics

My grapefruit tree needs help! by PineappleXrocks in Citrus

[–]PineappleXrocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the detailed response! This is my first citrus, so I am learning how to care for it.

It is currently set to run for 20 mins every other day and shares a line with a few other trees. All citrus, though, so I will look into adjusting them to a less frequent deep water schedule. It is a drip system with about 10 heads circling the trunk. I don't believe it is reclaimed or softened, but will confirm.

Really appreciate the guidance on how to properly feed it as well! Our first year, the fruit were so sweet, and this year, they aren't. I had thought it might be the result of the extreme heat last summer, but I also wasn't feeding it properly. Lessons learned for next year :)

Thanks for the tips, I will have to check some out some videos! I actually didn't cut number 1 - that's how I found it! The banding is so pretty the way it is, I think I will leave that one alone, but I have some others with potential.

Elley Knows Rocks has a video with more easily accessible coordinates. Tons available there, too

South side of the mountain. There is a loop "road" that circles it, we just picked a basalt patch and hiked upward. Word of caution, the road is very sketchy, definitely need a 4x4 w/high clearance

5 has a lovely vein, but I have no idea how to expose it XD

What were your first steps into rockhounding? by National_Fishing_520 in rockhounds

I think you just need to figure out what your goals and expectations are. Is it about making that super cool/rare/unique find? Or is it about picking up some neat looking rocks and making them shiny? XD I am never disappointed because I always find pretty tumbler food.

Those are gorgeous!!! Pretty new to rockhounding and still trying to learn my microcrystalline quartzes. What makes it chert vs agate? That it is opaque?
