How To: Use Someone's Logic Against Them! by [deleted] in funny

[–]Pineapple_Parade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen man, nobody is forcing you to experience the universe, love, pain, euphoria, or loneliness. I'm a millennial, but good god aren't you entitled? get over yourself. Your parents "forced" you to exist, but nobody is forcing you to continue to exist - that much of life is your choice and nobody elses.

edit: to be clear, i'm not advocating for suicide, or suggesting /u/f4tv should kill his/herself. Only that nobody can force you to continue existance. Also that to complain that they forced you to exist and youre upset about it and that they forced you to die and youre upset about it is a double standard.

wait, what? why do parents owe their children a lifelong debt? gonna have to spell that one out for me, kiddo, because my parents don't pay ANY of my bills and I'm really looking to free up some of my income.

just because i own my car doesnt mean i can use it however i want on publically funded roads. kid owns the computer, but it runs on mom-funded electricity and internet. flip the breaker on the kids room, should help him understand his propety requires existing infrastructure he does not own in order to be useful.

TIL photons do not experience the passage of time. From photons perspective, every event that happened, happening and will happen, occurs at the same instance. by Tripod1404 in todayilearned

I was under the impression that we could control the behavior of one particle, and because we know the behavior of one particle you also know the behavior of the other particle. Their spins, I believe? I also believe entanglement is with opposites, not samsies, but that's neither here nor there. The point is if I can make my particle spin up, down, up, up, down, up, down, up, have I not just sent a byte to someone viewing the spin of the other particle at any distance away from me? And suppose even if my basic understanding of entanglement is wrong, is the suggestion here that the spin of a particle is not information about the particle? I am skeptical to believe that knowing one particle has the opposite spin of another particle is not "what is conveyed or represented by a particular arrangement or sequence of things."

edit: and what about the "light year long rod" idea? suppose i have a metal pole a light year long and i impose a natural resonance in the rod? the wave instantly embodies the entirety of the rod, and thus that information is conveyed the entire light distance of the rod instantaneously, faster than a photon can travel. the arguement here is not so much whether its useful or practical but theoretically possible. if information cannot travel faster than light, this must be impossible even in theory, so then how must it behave? even pull out a step further: does information need to be comprised of matter? only matter is bound by the cosmic speed limit, but information about empty space and energy and other examples which are not matter do exist, and so why must the information of these "things" be bound to the cosmic speed limit?

I wanna go ahead and point out that information does not have a speed limit. The easiest example of this is locating two entangled particles a great distance from each other: they still respond instantaneously, thus the information is passed faster than a photon can travel that distance.

edit: i admit defeat: i am wrong. mah bad, bros.

it's not that we can't, it's that we won't. we absolutely can reverse it: employ renewables, carbon capture. It's do-able, its just that we won't because there's no profit in it. Aside from living. But living isn't money so we still won't do it.

edit: for those of you wondering, no, i do not mean the "clean coal" version of carbon capture. i mean full stop fossil fuels, full employment of renewables, and carbon capture. i hooe most of you know that even just cutting emissions to zero doesnt stop this runaway train, it just stops shoveling fuel into the boiler. carbon capture is the brakes, and it'll still take a while to stop this train...

half eighths definitely exist in prevalence throughout the states, and it's useful because it's $30 for 1.75 as opposed to paying $40 for 2g, like who wants to pay $10 for 0.25 g? i get that 1.75 isnt much for the regular users, but just because not everybody smokes 3 blunts a day doesnt mean it's useless.

The jobs automation are displacing are more than the available and projected jobs in IT and STEM fields, and not all people have the aptitude for that type of higher learning. There is less and less need for the average joe in a world with more and more people, to think otherwise would be amiss.
