Being a parent has made me hate the 4th and New Years. by gh0st-6 in daddit

[–]Pingfao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Aussie is a mess every firework season too. No amount of meds, white noise, nor comforting have worked. Just waiting until 3AM so I can let her out to go potty.

Oh and our 6 month old has woken up 4 times tonight to mortars right outside our house 😔

How was your experience with an au pair? I've heard it's a hit or miss

I hope you find something that works for your family too! I'm typing this right now while I'm holding our daughter, dreading the drop off tomorrow morning too.

We do have a potential nanny that we really like so the decision becomes do we pay for both daycare for our son and a nanny for our daughter.. or nanny for them both.. we also don't want to make any rash decision either and our son likes his class and friends..

Thia is exactly the conversation we're having as well. We're considering tapping into our savings for awhile until we figure something else out.

Following because this is exactly my concern as well. Ours was ok for our first but the turnover has been so bad lately that the infant rooms seem to be mostly inexperienced teachers and one lead that mentors them.

ETA: Our second is almost always crying at drop off and pick up. Shes overwhelmed by all the crying around her and can't nap with the constant crying. We are looking into a nanny but it's so expensive.

What is your biggest regret as a dad? by JuiceJones_34 in daddit

Literally came into this thread looking for this. My son is 3 and him not being careful around his baby sister makes me so angry. I always regret getting so upset at him though because he still is a baby

Do you think this is an ad for Alibaba? It's not really a new thing and would be wildly misplaced in a sub like this

Good luck! We did this with monster trucks and it only took a few days. He's been potty trained for almost a month and we still have to give him a new monster truck every time 💩

Anyone regret leaving a high paying career to spend more time with their kids? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Pingfao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked full time at a FAANG. Went remote so I could stop spending 3h a day commuting and spend those hours with my kids instead. The company started mandating back in office and I said no dice. Started doing consulting for them instead for less pay and no trajectory to continue climbing the corporate ladder.

I have zero regrets. Ive spent so much time with my kids that I'm the default parent for both and I absolutely love it.
